    My feedback from the alpha

    Hi all,

First i'd like to thank the ubi team to give the honor to participate to the alpha (sorry if my english is not very good ^^).

The game is awesome ! I've download it only sathurday afternoon (cause i didn't see the mail with the access before), and from the moment the download was complete to sunday evening, i've played all the time, making breaks only for eating, sleeping, and sometimes give a kiss to my girlfriend (who felt a bit alone during 2 days, but she understood my excitation ^^). So thanks a lot for the game !!!

I will first speak about what i liked. What i liked the most was the combat system. I play on PC with an Xbox 360 controller, and i found the gameplay really instictive and intensive. I mean i really felt the power of the combat while dodging, moving, changing position, trying to evaluate and anticipate my oppenent's next move (sometimes i nearly could see their eyes behind their helm), find an open in my oppenent's guard and then attacking, to finish with a beautiful execution. I remember some of my combats, still have some pictures flashing in my head of some of my glorious combat, and that makes me so impatient to play again.
The game is so beautiful !! Sometimes i stopped myself at a high control zone, to take a break just to enjoy the beauty of the map. The moves are fast and fluid. In a word, beautiful game !

I also liked the gameplay differences between the different characters, wich allows you really have your style of game. In my case, my favorite's one is the warden. It is not the one I play the best, but i just find him so cool with his armor and his great sword ! I remember a moment... I've found an enemy orochi just behind the frontline. I've started to fight him, when suddenly an ennemy raider arrived just behind me ! I blocked his first attack, which blocked the orochi one's too. Then I pushed the orochi in a trap and turn myself to face the raider. I quickly took advantage on him, and he finished the fight down on his knees, with his head cutted off. I felt so strong, and i've pay a lot just to see my oppenents faces after this moment ^^.

The possibilty to customize the characters is a good thing, but i would like to see more of different armor, helmet etc. But i know that it is only the alpha, and that i havn't play enough to unlock all the stuff available.

I think that the characters are quite balanced, but i found the orochi really too fast. In 1v1 he is my nightmare, and i don't know if it's the character who is too fast, or if it's just me who don't react or anticipate fast enough to counter him. To test that point (and that's my first "negative point") i would like to have a training mode with unlimited life, like in combat game, wich would allow me to choose the character i face (controlled by the AI) and test my combos, studdy the orochi's (or another charcter) positions, and then have a better anticipations of my ennemy's moves. That's the thing i missed the most in the alpha.

The second "negtive point" is that in PvP dominion mode (exclusively), i've experienced a lot of lag (not all the time !), even though my connection was good. I know that it's not a problem of performances from my PC, so maybe there's something to do with the servers, but that's something you already know ^^.

In conclusion, For Honor is a must-have ! This game is for me the best game of this kind i've ever played, and i'm so impatient to play again and discover the other characters which will be available in the final version. I hope my feedback will be useful (sorry again for my bad english), and I hope to see you soon on the battelfield !

    For honor

I couldn't agree more. This game is absolute gold. The combat is a fresh new experience for even the most veteran console and PC players and adds a sense of strategy and real life reaction to basic hack and slash gaming. The historical accuracy of the characters is phenomenal and the ability for the countering and striking to be so fluid is incredible. The graphics are second to none just absolutely stellar. Unlike other games of this type if I was in a game with a seemingly unbeatable player i never got enraged because the reason you lose most battles isn't because of sticky controls or lag but of your own mistake. You then learn and adapt and become better. It's this type of game that people have been waiting for and Ubisoft NAILED IT.

Berserker was my go to with his endless chain and block counter and I am just itching to get another chance to play this game. The positives of this game far outweigh any possibility of negatives and of my negatives i only have very few.

One issue was the ladder combat I don't know if this will be explained in campaign or what but when i found myself on a ladder with another kid it just seemed like a helpless mash of buttons until someone fell off. My other concern was the NAT and the wait times to get into games because of it but I've seen other kids mention it so i wont go into any further detail than that. But i also agree with the Orochi it is what makes him unique and i get that and i'm proudly able to say ive defeated more orochi than been defeated by orochi because of the Berserker undaunted but soon as he gets an upper hand it is almost impossible to win the fight. The double strike counter i think is the thing that gets me the most. he is able to strike twice before i even get to rearm from his counter block. If the choices are a total nerf or remain the same i would choose to keep him the same because soon as you are able to defeat one you get the method behind their strikes and what they look to do to you. My only other concern was when i would be in the middle of a game and the game would lag nbd but then an alert saying retrieving game status would appear and i would wince. Whenever that screen showed up it was a 50/50 coin toss if i would be kicked or remain in the game and most of the time i lost. Dont know if that was a technical error or just my connection but it was unbearable. Other than these few complaints i thought the game was absolutely incredible and is like no other. Ubisoft absolutely hit a gold mine here i dont think there will be one household in the world that owns a gaming system that wont also own this game.
