Conqueror feedback
A bunch of feedback after a week-end of playing Conqueror. I'm not a great player and I played only Dominion (no duels) so I didn't reach master level, consider this as an "average player" point of view (like most Alpha players I guess).
- Overall: tons of fun, feels very different (as it should) compared to the Berserker I played in previous Alpha
- Really good defensive abilities, could handle group fights pretty well. Unfortunately it does not seem to be much rewarded (in terms of score) to keep 2-3 enemy players busy while your teammates are scoring points.
- The shield bash you can trigger after a heavy or dodge is really powerful as nobody I fought seemed to know how to avoid it. I haven't tried to abuse it but I suspect I may have scored more cheesy kills with it.
- Overall low scoring in Dominion even sometimes when I felt I did well. I admit I only read at the scoring rules after the Alpha was over. I'm not sure I'm a fan of these class-specific bonus points as it tends to force a specific playstyle onto you, but I have no strong opinion on it.
- Feats: Fiat Lux at L1 is very (too?) powerful, it's pretty much a guaranteed kill as long as you don't blind yourself by mistake. The shield damage is super useful too. No strong opinion on L3-4 feats as they don't get as much use.
- Lack of feint: a non-issue at my skill level, but I suspect it may hurt when fighting good players who can easily block/parry regular attacks. Overall it feels like the Conqueror is more about counter-attacking, as typically you can chain the Superblock while charging with a heavy attack followed by a shield bash and a light, which amounts to pretty good damage.
- Over the week-end I met only one player I really felt helpless against (I also died to many more, but usually with the feeling I could have done better and possibly won). He was an Orochi and he killed me several times in the same match, so fast I had no idea what happened. But I won't draw any conclusion about Orochis in general as most of them I was able to handle.
- I've seen several posts complaining about short range but it wasn't an issue for me. I guess my opponents weren't good enough to keep me at bay.
