My 2 cents
Thank you Ubisoft for this For Honor closed Alpha. My faith had been faltering due to The Division, but I am renewed again. That being said, I'll get right into what I'd like to see in For Honor. I'm definitely pre-ordering this game now, just need to decide PC or PS4.
1) Ladders
Maybe this is a placeholder mechanic, and the full game will have something a bit more complex, but "ladder combat" needs to be changed in some way. Getting knocked off a ladder is essentially a death sentence because if you don't insta-die, you're prone for a free Heavy Attack. Also, I'd appreciate maybe a couple of invincibility frames when getting off a ladder. No invincibility for getting on one though, shame on you if you try to climb a ladder to run from a fight.
2) Environmental Hazards
I enjoyed using the environment as part of the combat as a whole, but the falling deaths could use a bit of work. I feel that it's too easy to knock someone off a ledge, maybe some sort of skill based fall-recovery mechanic that gives those with quick reflexes a chance to get back into the fight.
3) Stamina
You can add me to the chorus of people that believe rolling and sprinting should have some sort of stamina cost. Personally, I'd also suggest blocking cost more stamina while making parrying free in order to add incentive for the higher risk active defense mindset.
4) Matchmaking
I understand that a lot of the network options were not available during the Alpha, but here goes. Please allow us to 1v1 duel our friends, furthermore, please give us a round robin of 1v1 duels if we have multiple friends in one session. I'd love to see my friends dueling in a dynamic spectator mode, waiting for the chance to upset the current champion. If group sizes can increase to 8+, I'd like to see this round robin system in 2v2 brawls as well.
5) Crossplay
Yeah, I'm not sure how much of this is actually under Ubisoft control, and if it's even possible to implement this if it hasn't been already...but I can dream. If you could just pull a Rocket League and have PC--PS4 play, I'd be happy....selfish I know, but happy.
Anyway, so thanks again for the Closed Alpha. Looking forward to your next Closed or Open Beta, keep up the good work.
