First things first, I played a large majority of Domination (or whatever it was called) with the Raider. I would venture into brawls and duels from time to time.
Second, I was on the Xbone and log about 20+ hours.
Pros:
- The combat felt very unique, I really enjoyed it
- The matches were very fast, maybe too fast( see below)
Cons:
Granted some of these could be caused by being an alpha
- Framerate drop/Lag: It got so bad from time to time that I was unsure whether it was framerate drop or lag. I noticed it when I was at “B” with all of the Creeps
- Lack of instructions: Don’t get me wrong there was the tutorial, but it was very basic there were hidden mechanics. I felt as though there should have been more, i.e. how to parry, how to slide down ladder, how to counter guard break, etc. etc.
- Skills/feats: whatever they were called, the higher tiered skills seemed very hard to get. Very seldom did I get my 4th skill and the few times that I did get them the match was almost over.
- Ladder combat: I agree it needs to be there, but it sure is wonky, sometimes people sliding wins and sometimes people punching up wins.
- Balancing issues: as I stated I mainly played the raider, I got to 18 or 19, but I felt as though there were classes that seemed more well equipped (let’s not use OP, to reduce the hate mail). i.e. the Warden’s stun lock shoulder combo, the Orochi’s very fast 2-hit combo. (maybe with the new classes they maybe nerfed indirectly)
Feedback:
- I feel as though there should be some kind of research put in to see which classes were picked more often. I felt as though I saw both classes from the samurai and the knight the most.
- Dedicated servers, dedicated servers, dedicated servers… (granted the lag and host migrations could have been associated to the “Alpha” status)
- I did feel as though the matches could have been a little longer. Maybe make the points per second for having a point only 1/sec instead of 2/sec. Then, point “B” could be 2 or 3/sec that way “B” could be more of a major concern. It seems as though “B” was just used to go and hit a couple of creeps to get some health back.
- From what I have seen I will be getting the game, but on PC instead. After all, my PC could do laps around and xbox
Either way keep up the good work.
