Does anyone know what is the max level for a gear?

I would prefer if the gear was only aesthetic, but at this point I expect this to be a change the devs will not make, becaus ethey already worked a lot on the stats. So, I think we should cook a plan B suggestion.

They should either remove the stats system completely or switch them with stats that don't effect important gameplay mechanics like gain x% more reown or steel from battles.
Or they should at least give us the option to queue into games were gear stats are disabled or enabled, so everyone can choose the way he wants to play.
you could play duel. duel is meant to disable everything and keep it pure skill as they say.

i think that's already how it was in the alpha, right? Dominion is free for all gear, Brawl&Duel are default stats, if I recall correctly.

yeah i believe that is how it is, but there is that video floating about on here saying that items stats are bad because they make people OP, but the video is from a duel match, so all it showed is the Orochi being OP :P

from playing the alpha i found the items stat benefits were very minor. i don't think they are going to have a major impact on gameplay anyway

The only time I got a straight upgrade was when I got a level 2 item instead of a level 1 item. And the amount was tiny.
Sure, upgrading from default gear to whatever you get shows you an increase in power. But that's from there on out it's a trade-off whenever you find something new.

You'll never get a sword blade that does both attack up and block up, it's either more attack, or better block, and that way you can customise your gear to suit your playstyle. The ingame effect was minimal at best. It allows for a tiny amount of tweaking the classes, so I'm all for it.

The ability to change stats it is ok and I think it should be in the game, the problem is that there is a powercurve, changing a stat should be a tradeoff always, meaning that a level 1 would have the same amount of stat points as a level 20 renown 5, just organized diferently.

Upgrading an stat should mean that you downgrade another the same amount, it should allow for the player to adapt the character to his style. Right now there are stats that are simply the only choice to upgrade, Attack and Defense for example are obviously the best choice for their respective weapon/armor parts.

I would like to see something like armor having Defense and Dodge distance stats, upgrading one downgrades the other, meaning that if you go for Defense you cannot rely so much on dodges and if you go for Dodge distance you have to be really careful about beeing hit. It would have and impact in gameplay, allowing for making an Orochi ultra squishy but upgrading his mobility even more, or a conqueror extremely tanky while almost immobile, or the other way around, you might face an more mobile conqueror that not only has a good shield defense but can also close the gap and shieldbash you more effectively, but when you do indeed hit him it won't be as tanky as other conquerors.

But it has to be real trade-off, right now heroic parts will just upgrade your stats incredibly compared to a level 1 standard part.

The real problem would be to find important stats to modify that allow for this type of gameplay customization. Personally, I don't like the 3 stats on every part, I would make it 2 stats per armor/weapon part and if you upgrade one stat the other gets downgraded.

It even allows for standard weapons to be actually usefull, I am not a fan of transitional weapons that are just in the game for the sake of transition to something better, you might want to not specialize too much on defense, but still want to improve it just enough that you are ok with the lost on dodge distance, so you want an standar weapon that changes only a bit your stats. (you still might want the heroic weapons for the aesthetic though).
what is this guy talking about? Late game gear allows to focus on 2 stats while 1 stat gets punished quite harshly... like you serious?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_n5E7feJHw0

Has anyone tested with high level gear what the difference really is though? Because it looks drastic, but what does that actually translate to? How much more damage are you really doing fully upgraded vs stock?

It looks like it would have taken him six hits to kill someone with just light attacks.
    I found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hW5ExZYDAs0

And it looks like pretty default gear, and it takes 8 light hits to kill the warden in that one. So, about a 25% damage boost. You can pause after the first light attack in both videos and check how much it takes off on each one.
