    Closed Alpha - Final Thoughts

Let me first start by saying how thankful I am to have taken part of this Alpha. After spending the better part of the weekend playing, I have compiled the follow list of issues, suggestions and elements I liked.

    Issues:

    • Network and connectivity issues - Throughout my time this weekend it seemed quite often a game had connectivity issues, be it host mitigation multiple times in one match or the "re-establishing connection" message. Besides the annoyance and break in game play for these messages, sometimes at really inopportune times in the middle of combat, about 25% of time after receiving these messages I would be dropped from the game and sent back to main menu with all progress and xp for that match lost.

    • Party matchmaking issues - Multiple times trying to join matchmaking with an organized party was very problematic. Never had any issues with just a party of two, but when trying to bring a party of 3 or 4 into matchmaking we would always lose 1 or 2 guys in the process. So in a game mode of Dominion, where team work and organization is pivotal, this was an issue for my friends and I .

    Suggestions:

    • Longer dominion matches - At times felt like a dominion match would be shorter than the wait time to load a new match. 20 minutes is the allotted time for a match, but most matches averaged about 8 minuets. I think maybe extending the tickets from 1000 for "enemy break" to 1500 would get you around 10+ minutes of match play.
    • Individual character tutorial - I found the individual character videos extremely helpful in utilizing each character, granted I had to watch them over 3-4 times to soak everything in. But I think if the video tutorial was made into an actual physical practice like tutorial, e.x. watching how to perform a move and then physically practicing it before moving on to the next move/ability, it would be much more helpful and help to elevate everyone's game on the battlefield.

    Positives:

    • Well polished - Very well polished for an Alpha, two thumbs up!
    • Fighting felt smooth and natural not clunky - Seeing that this is where similar games have met their demise...you guys crushed it. The "Art of War" mechanics are spot on and promise to make this game truly revolutionary!
    • Very good character balance - I know a lot of the community has posted about certain characters being over-powered, but I believe there is a very good balance between all of them. Each has specific areas of advantages and disadvantages, and it felt like there was a very cyclical "rock, paper, scissors" balance between the characters. And I think that was self-evident in the matches where I always experienced a good mix of characters on each team.

In closing this was a great Alpha to take part in and for that I am grateful. I had a great time playing and I look forward to future test runs and ultimately the final product. Keep up the good work Ubi.

I agree with what you said 100% but I think that it would be also great to see bigger maps, like a real medieval battlefield: two rival army in the middle of a green field fighting together!!

Anyway thanks a lot for the invitation, I really appreciate that!

They could also decreased a bit the amount of points per sec the objectives give and increase those gained by killing heroes.

That would inevitably make more fights per match.

(though my idea may not be the best)
