Orochi "Recovery Dodge" Mechanic Bugged/Broken
I made a post on this earlier but I want to go into more detail.
The Orochi has an ability called "Recovery Dodge". This ability states that the Orochi can dodge while recovering after his/her attack. I believe this mechanic is bugged to the point where it is game breaking. I noticed that after I PARRIED any attack the Orochi could simply dodge away/to the side with almost no "recovery frame lag". Every time I parried an attack on ANY other class I was given enough time to initiate a counter attack before they could act, they were forced to block. This wasn't the case with the Orochi.
I even saw a Pro Tips Thread that said parrying would be an effective strategy against Orochi, I agree....until he dashes the parry. I believe this is a bug from the mechanic exclusive to the Orochi called "Recovery Dodge". I believe that even when the Orochi's attack is blocked, the game still registers it as an attack therefore proc-ing the Recovery Dodge ability allowing the Orochi to dash in any direction. This caused an endless cycle of me parrying the Orochi attacks and him dashing and attacking. I suggested that this ability should only be able to proc when an attack is NOT blocked. Even after our endless dance of parrying and dash attacking, when I finally landed an attack he would simply counter with wind gust and we're back to square one. This was very frustrating.
I saw a post by ServiusOrtus that suggested the Orochi either be a dodge based defender or a block based defender and not both. I thought this was genius as he is correct in stating the Orochi has too many effective forms of defense. He can dodge effectively as a form of defense and block (counter wind gust) effectively and that is too many tools at the disposal of a single character.
I have ZERO problem with dash attacking as a form of engagement as it has serious draw backs to the trained eye. However, I do have a problem that even when you masterfully parry an attack you have no chance of continuing the engagement and are forced to still play defensively. This...is...game-breaking. Please get this post circulating so Ubisoft can see it and address this issue immediately. Fortunately, I only came across ONE Orochi that did this and that was already too much to bare. I can't even begin to imagine what a team of Orochis like this can do.
I understand there are ways to counter this, the most effective were only by characters who can essentially counter attack immediately (Orochi Counter Wind Gust, Conqueror Heavy Charge block/attack, Warden top light attack/counter but even at that the Orochi has to attack top). In case you are wondering, even the Berserker unique deflect-guardbreak didn't work as the Orochi dashed out of it BECAUSE HE ATTACKED TO INITIATE THAT DEFLECT (trust me when I say I tried EVERYTHING and before you say that Kensei 3rd String Heavy attack will hit because it's uninterruptible/unguardable....take in mind that I'm talking about right after you PARRY an attack). But that is not the point nor does it change the fact that it is game breaking or bugged to say the least. After you parry, your character should be at an advantage to attack and the defender should be forced to block, not simply dash away as was the case with every other character.
I also want to address those of you who would tell me how to counter this and say that I needed to stay on the offensive against this particular Orochi and use guard breaks so that he didn't have the ability to abuse this mechanic, I say to you that IS NOT the point of this post. The point was, as is with all matches against Orochi, you will eventually be on the defensive and you shouldn't have to stay in the defensive indefinitely until you are worn down which brings me to my next point.
All those dash attacks need to consume more stamina. I parried and blocked so much one time that he ran out of stamina and simply rolled away and avoided me until his stamina came back. (Don't even think of telling me I should have chased him down as Orochi or Berserker because that's not the point, AGAIN).
Okay well I think I delivered this message pretty clearly. If you didn't come across this playing against an Orochi, you are fortunate. If you did come across this, you are not alone. If you abused this as playing an Orochi, you know exactly what I'm talking about and now you know why you were damn near invincible. The point of this is not to discuss options to counter, but rather raise the awareness that there is bugged ability that needs to be re-worked. I suggest the "Recovery Dodge" ability only proc when an attack is not blocked. Thank you for reading this all the way through. You are awesome.
