EVERYBODY STOP, here's a quick BriefHeroes guide
I've read countless posts so far about how this character is weak this character is OP this character is so and so
They're not..
PLEASE NOTE I'M NOT CLAIMING TO BE ALL KNOWING MASTER AT ARMS THIS IS SIMPLY MY OBSERVATION AND STRATEGY AGAINST THE HEROES I ENCOUNTERED I FOUND THEM ALL TO BE VERY WELL BALANCED!
----------------------------------------------------
WARDEN:
OFFENCE:
-Warden is not a weak hero by any means her top attack does high amounts of damage so does her top counter
-Combo side light attacks into shoulder chargers to keep your enemy stun locked if they dodge use Zone skill to get a quick hit it
-throwing an opponent against a wall staggers enemies briefly
DEFENSE:
-Defending against her is also easy avoid top using attacks
-Block side attacks if you're hit with a side attack expect a shoulder rush and doge left or right
-Keep blocking to you left as default defense rest as her zone attack is extremely fast and you likely wont catch it mid swing
----------------------------------------------------------
CONQUER
OFFENCE:
-Conquer has an infinite chain ability with his light attacks this is why he attacks so fast, change the direction of your attacks to throw enemies off and harass them
-You can charge conquers heavy attacks block an enemy attack then release in a different angle of attack
- DO NOT RELY ON YOUR BLOCK Blocking is awesome but guard break will still get through Impenetrable block which also drains stamina which leaves you open for a dirt nap
-charging heavy attacks also costs stamina don't hold this for to long
- use shield charge to knock opponents back or to the ground for a free hit or to peel for a friendly in a bad spot
DEFENSE:
-Conquer relies a lot on his shield leaving him open to guard break
-When he uses his Impenetrable block but you can still guard break through the block,
-you can also still parry and deflect conquer's attacks although they seem to be a bit more difficult than other heroes, be cautious
-Guard break is the best bet and so are stuns, feint attacks to get a block then switch up your attacks with light attacks and guard breaks dodge heavy attacks for brief openings and guard infinite chains
-Easy peezy
-------------------------------
KENSEI : (I'll be honest here, i didn't play any of the kensei fought plenty though so bare with me)
OFFENSIVE:
-The Kensei Has combo attacks that end in an unblock-able top attack at the end of a combo
-try to feint a dodge with the unblock-able attack then cancel into a side swing, S**t gets me literally every time... thats all i got on the kensei offensively
DEFENSIVE: I had a supper tough time with really good kensei' to be honest
-Their unblock-able attack is easily dodged left or right and sometimes back if you time it just right however a left or right dodge leaves you open for a side attack if they feint a dodge and a back dodge is not guaranteed.
-Additionally you can parry the unblock-able However if they feint you may end up paying for it with a side attack,.
-Be aggressive and evasive against a kensei stun and guard-break them, displace them and fight in tight corridors.
-The long blade will be deterred by the environment parry and light attack them to death...
-less easy, a skilled kensei is hard but not impossible
--------------------------------------
OROCHI: Dear god the amount of orochi complaints.
OFFENSIVE:
-The orochi is one of the more fun classes to play because its all about timing and skill.
-A back-step overhead slash can catch a top attacker out of guard say attempting a heavy attack.
-A dash slash (forgive me i didn't learn the names) will make quick work of anyone getting to aggressive and your deflect special can to massive damage.
-You can feint a block to one side by using dash slash into a cancel into a new direction attack or guard break.
-I like to throw the enemy behind me then use zone clear for a quick kill on an almost dead opponent you can use attacks during dodges to punish aggressive enemies and Block feints to open up defensive opponents.
DEFENSIVE:
-When fighting an orochi its important NOT TO BE TO AGGRESSIVE make your presence known but don't rush in head long.
-The counters hurt and they're flea bite light attacks add up also losing to much health means certain death.
-If the orochi has kunai or long bow call it quits before you reach Half with longbow or 1/4th with kunai as these will finish you Respectively.
-Fight in closed spaces if at all possible as the environment will stop some attacks like the dash slash and zone clear,
-If you attack a defensive Orochi use feint attacks to force a parry or deflect and create openings with guard-breaks, light attacks or stuns.
-expect to be countered when using heavy attacks as they take to long and the orochi is very fast.
-Block in the Direction of a dash slash but expect a change up or guard-break..
-Block the direction the orochi dodges as they can attack as they dodge
---------------------------------------
RAIDER:
OFFENSIVE: Raider is an absolute animal his grabs make him very very dangerous.
-Try to fight next to environmental hazards and use them advantageously.
-Raider is an excellent displacer when in mid i Like to grab enemies and throw them behind my line of Soldiers they'll take damage and have they're block harassed .
-Using a light attack followed by a heavy attack to use his unblock-able attack quickly using heavy attack then light attack will cause massive damage.
-I typically throw my enemies behind me use the L-H combo a skilled player will dodge or parry and one unfortunate enough to miss either will then be down half health.
-use your stunning tap and pommel strike to stun and disorient enemies and throws to deplete there stamina , using stampede charge is a great way to peel a target away from a fight be it a 2 v 1 or a fight your friend is losing.
-when fighting more than one opponent Focus on blocking until your revenge meter fills wait for at least 2 of your attackers to strike then activate use the L-H combo for a quick kill..
-skip the execute as the other attacker will likely not stand by and watch.
DEFENSIVE:
Fighting a raider is a matter of wits and awareness if you fight a raider near an environmental Hazard you deserve every broken bone you get from a fall every impalement every burning alive you name it.
-Fight the raider in a closed space the environment will act as a shield against some attacks.
-Always expect to be guard-broke .
-Maintain a top resting Defense stance to avoid being Pommel stricken.
-If you are pommel stricken Top guard is a relatively safe bet at a top attack after pommel strike is faster however look for any indication of stance change.
-When your thrown to the grown or smashed against a wall watch the raider and look for any indication of attack you still have a chance to block a heavy attack!
-A raiders unblock-able can be Parried and dodged just need to time it don't rush your counter.
-------------------------------------------------
Berzerker; Arguably the single most dangerous class in the game only due to its unpredictability, didn't play it much and there was a bunch of stuff to learn to use them effectively hands down much harder than the orochi.
OFFENSIVE:
-Much like the conquer the berserker also has infinite chains which leads to their fast light attack speeds.
-Your Deflects end with guard break use this to throw your enemy to sap there stamina or take a free hit.
-you can cancel both light and heavy attacks to feint a block..
-you can parry with light attacks in the same direction of you enemy.
after a few hits you get a perk called dauntless which makes your attacks unstoppable (environment no longer affects you? i think? not sure).
DEFENSIVE: THESE ****ING SPIDER MONKEYS ARE A PAIN.
-Don't attack unless your prepared to counter guard break.
-try to break there guard, throw or stun them be wary of alternating attacks, counter if your a counter class.
- Be very evasive!.
-Cry.
-Run.
-Beg for back up.
-fight 2 v 1.
-celebrate.
-but honestly they're squishy 2-3 hits will do it.
and the gamplay is hard only met one good zerker during alpha test.
I HOPE THIS INFORMATION HELPS SOME OF YOU ON THE BATTLEFIELD
THE CLASSES ARE VERY WELL BALANCED AND JUST REQUIRE A LITTLE KNOW HOW
IF ANYONE HAS ANYTHING TO ADD, BY ALL MEANS!!!
