Firstly, dedicated servers are a must-have for this game. There is no reason in this day and age for a company like Ubisoft to not have dedicated servers. Other than that, I had a great time playing this game. I don't think the Raider should be able to pin you, or knock you down seeing as how both of these are extremely hard to recover from. Orochi is a good concept, but is way too easy to play well. The mechanics and hit registration of For Honor also felt very clunky at times. Other than these issues, I had a great time in this alpha. I can't wait for the beta!
I agree with Aviator^. If you think it's easy to play well, then you must have been playing against people who don't know how to play Knight and Kensai.Originally Posted by Aviator144 Go to original post
I disagree. I feel like the only real issue with their networking right now is it seems to have trouble migrating hosts and dealing with players dropping in or out in rapid succession. I've never had any issues with hit detection and generally find their in game netcode to be pretty solid in that regard. Without serious hit detection issues, P2P is fine, I'd much prefer P2P to ease matchmaking.
ill take the extra 15seconds for match-making (hell, id wait an extra 2-3min easy) for dedicated servers. Cant play while its migrating hosts, and when it fails to find a host (sometimes at the rewards screen, where you then will not recieve the loot or xp you just earned) your drop from the game altogetherOriginally Posted by ServiusOrtus Go to original post
P2P has to go or i and all of my clan will not be buying this game.
Orochi takes real skill ESPECIALLY when playing against good players.Originally Posted by MNSUAngel Go to original post
I have to disagree with the Orochi being easy. It's not the he's easy, it's the fact that he has abusable mechanics. His deflect wind gust will definitely defeat people who are attack heavy. His recovery dodge is by far the most broken mechanic in this game. Players who abuse these mechanics make him seem easy, but to use ALL of his abilities to their full potential is not easy to do. I can honestly I say that I was the Orochi I ever saw use the deflect Heavy Attack to Back Dash cance; to Storm rush Cancel to grab...let me tell you it's not easy to do.
I think that the issue with the Orochi lies specifically with the fact the Orochi class has far more versatility in its defense options than any other class currently playable. I think the damage, health, etc. of the Orochi is fine but people end up running into issues with the combination of the Orochi's attack speed, dash combos, dodge distance, and deflect mechanic.Originally Posted by On Instiinct Go to original post
Without re-iterating too much from my other post (you can read that here: http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...ggested-Tweaks ), my brief analysis is as follows:
Deflect in and of itself isn't necessarily inherently OP, it simply is a bridge too far on the Orochi who already has a great defense focus in their dodge & dash combos.
The Orochi can be better balanced by simply removing the Deflect mechanic (the capacity for Orochi to time their Active Guards such that they can proc a free unblockable light or heavy attack), and keep the Orochi's Active Guard (the need for Orochi's to actively time their guard directions). This allows the class to focus on a much more active & assassin like playstyle of using dashes & dodges to smartly probe & bait opponents into mistakes.
Again though I think the Deflect mechanic has some really cool potential but should be a standalone defense tool on a different unique class that doesn't have as strong speed, dodge distance, or dash combos.
