    Alpha Test Reactions

After registering on the website the day of the reveal, I finally had the pleasure of testing out "For Honor". Here are my thoughts on different aspects of the game.

    VISUALS:
The game is stunning. The environments are beautiful, the textures are great, the atmosphere of the game is amazing. Personally, i experienced no loss in visual fidelity.

    CHARACTERS:
The characters available were great. Each had their own characteristics that forced your play style to change. Some can fight directly, some allowed you to take on multiple attackers and some made you have to play tactically. The one character i feel is very OP is the Viking character with the long AX (name escapes me). I felt he was able to take way to much damage, deal way to much damage had had such a large reach with the AX escape was almost impossible. After playing more with Orochi(?), the lighter samurai, facing him became more tolerable but he still felt overpowering (maybe im just being a baby). I do hope for more character types and branches in the future but the six are a good start.

    COMBAT:
The best part of the game (as it should be). Combat felt amazing. Stringing blocks against two attackers while fending them off is an outstanding feeling. Its easy enough to understand immediately but tough enough that practice is needed. I didnt look at the combo lists or do any practice past the tutorial, so I had to attempt to learn combos by practicing different press combinations. I believe i got basic ones down but i couldnt figure out any of the block breaker combos.

    AI:
They serve more of a purpose than I first realized (dont just run through an enemy crowd) and they work.

    GAME MODES:
Love Dominion. I tested Dual and 1v1 but played mainly Dominion. It would be great to have a big 6v6 or even 8v8 mode where its pure PvP combat with a limit on respawns, and even a "hardcore" type of mode with no respawn and a cap on revives. It would cause for even more strategy and team play.

    OVERALL:
Love the game so far. This is one of the best Alphas I have had the pleasure of testing. For Honor was high on my list of must haves and this Alpha has not only lived up to expectations but has exceeded them. Luckily, I have had a smooth process. No bugs, no glitches, no fidelity loss, no dropped matches. I can say that the Alpha has left me wondering about the single player campaign. I hope that its just as good and can hold its own against a stellar multiplayer mode. I hope to be a part of the Beta and cant wait for the actual release. Thanks for the opportunity!

    Update

A quick update. At the end of the Alpha i decided to try it out on my PS Vita. It runs great, but one problem i have is the inability to change control scheme to fit the vita. For me, the bach touch is tough to maneuver and i found i would go out of stance because my finger moved a little down or to the right. If there were mapping strictly for the Vita (for the console the controls are great), i would for sure play on my Vita and be even more addicted.
