I use the orochi, so let me get that bias out the way. I use him, not due to being OP but because I've always had a thing for assassins. Assassins generally carry the attributes of attack speed and agility. Which is exactly what the Orochi has however, the two things they always have is low health and low damage. When it comes to damage, the orochi does have fairy low damage, but his speed makes up for it. I think the creators did a good job counteracting the speed of an orochi by adding in the stamina effect. I've got my butt kicked for trying quick slashes and then running out of stamina. I think that's good, I also think when it comes to stamina sprinting should effect stamina, makes no since that it doesn't. Anyways, the problem with the orochi is his health. He is such an agile character that he is small and frail and does not have good armor therefore ascetically I believe he needs to have his health lowered and also for the balance of For Honor he needs to have it low as well. The orochi should be used to get in fast, deliver a few heavy blows and get out. He shouldn't be able to stay and fight because he wants too only when he has too. - An Orochi Player.
I love how most Orochi players assume we're 'bad' players. I'm not a bad player because I lose a fight due to an overpowered deflect, that's the only problem with the Orochi, is that it has an extremely easy to pull of move, which requires the bare minimum to get a massive effect. All these people that defend the Orochi play the Orochi and they don't want to see their god-tier class brought down to a level that makes the game fun for everyone else. Shame on you, tbh.
EDIT: My prediction is that if the Orochi doesn't get some kind of nerf for beta or full game, then the game will just become Orochi meta and it'll die off quickly, no one wants to play that sort of game.
The Orochi can be countered way easily, as the OP has stated, and when fighting one, you just need to adjust your attack style. Honestly, a lot of people play the Orochi because it reminds them of a "ninja" and people will continue to use him in great quantities because of this reason. Honestly, all of you people complaining about the Orochi, look at the berserker's deflect. They get a free, uncounterable guard break.
I love how your arg for this class.
1. Fast attacks..
Yeah it's normal so it has to be fast
2. Too high damage.
yeah it's normal he is an assassin
3. Too agile.
Yeah it's normal he is an assassin
4. Unavoidable counters.
Yeah it's normal it is an assassin
-_-
Come back with real argument please
edit:
My quick an easy way to win againt Orochi has Knight.
Don't use the duel stance.
Just Run and throw eavy attack and to roll to void his attack.
It works fine and you usally get either insulted or the player ragequit
Gosh I love this game
I was about to say the same thing. I also like the tips for beating one, "don't attack them ever and try to guard break", well that's not really a good strategy is it? So you can't ever be the aggressor otherwise you'll lose everytime? If you continuously try to guard break they'll just counter it everytime and just baiting edge kills is a good way to get yourself thrown off. The other tip is "wait for them to attack you", which again is hardly a viable strategy to fight. Mind games are a big part of the combat in this game and if you can't ever be the first to attack then you're at a big disadvantage as you lose a good chunk of the mind game part.Originally Posted by PiIhow Go to original post
Orochis are not impossible to beat but there is no denying that once figured out they are significantly more effective than every other class. I've encountered quite a lot of double orochi teams in 2v2 and even 4 orochis in domination. Can I beat them? Sure, but there's no denying I get that sense of dread whenever I see one as I know it's going to be a much harder fight than anyone else. The berserker has a similar playstyle to the Orochi but can you honestly say they're as good a class? I don't think so.
Played an absolute insane amount of For Honor this weekend. I mostly played Duel and Brawl, and almost all of it as a Conq. Got him up to prestige 2 level 15, as well as a couple of the other heroes (Orochi, Kensei, Berserker) to 10-15. In that time, I played against a lot of Orochi's. By a mile, they were the most common class I would see in Duel and Brawl. There are two big problems with the Orochi; the first is how easy it is to play. The second is how far above the point of balance it is.
Starting with how easy he is to play. Ironically, listed as hard, the Orochi is without a doubt the easiest class to play at a decent level. They don't need to learn how to parry due to their deflect mechanic, and they don't need to discover any combo's to play around with as it's handed to them on a platter with the dash into top light x2. THIS is why most players will say the Orochi is overpowered. For the record, they're not wrong, at least in my opinion, that the Orochi is too strong, but they are calling it OP for the wrong reasons. To get to the same level as you are with the Orochi as another class, it requires a much bigger investment. You need to figure out what combo's you can get away with, absolutely need to learn how to parry if you want to get anywhere and everything is harder earned. It's fantastic, and while we're here, I really think a big step forward into fixing problem A of the Orochi (being too easy to play) would be to make the deflect mechanic harder to perform. I'm thinking like a parry, but instead, you use rb instead of rt. Simple change; makes them harder to play as for new players; won't make a lick of difference to high level players. This should go the same for the Berserker, FYI.
Problem B of the Orochi is, I'm afraid to say, they're just too strong. Now, maybe this is a symptom of the gear problem the game has which destroys game balance when you hit higher prestiges, but as a Conqueror, the Orochi dash into top light x2 dealt 45% of my health. 45% of the supposed tankiest character the alpha had to offer. That's something I'm fine with, the dash is really telegraphed, and if the Orochi isn't using feints, you can avoid it 9/10 times. When they start feinting however, as all high level players will, you enter a world of hurt. The effort other classes had to put into defeating me was significantly higher than an Orochi. I could **** up 4 or 5 times in a single duel and still take a win against literally any other class. If you **** up twice against a high level Orochi, you're done. 90% done in the dash combo, follow that up with the zone attack and you've got a dead enemy. Simply put, the dash deals far too much damage to ALSO guarantee further damage on top. Suggested change, in my opinion, would be to EITHER lower the damage on the dash, or, remove the guaranteed top lights that follow a dash; allow a player to parry or block those so the combo isn't so brain dead. If that's achieved, I think the Orochi would be much more manageable at a higher level, and you'll actually have to work to win your duels, rather than winning in two combos.
TL;DR make the deflect mechanic of Assassin's harder to perform, not because the mechanic is too strong, but because the mechanic is too easy, making the characters disproportionately easy to play compared to the other classes. Remove the guaranteed top light follow up from the Orochi dash attack so counterplay is an option if you make a mistake.
I've beat just as many Samurai as I've lost to but I just can't stand there play style. Both of the Samurai seem to have far more " perks " for the player to utilise, you can't have speed AND damage ! Realistically the Viking should have the fastest attack speed and highest stamina due to the lack of encumberance from armour but have the lowest damage resistance. The Knight should have the highest damage resistance and parry defense but lowest stamina and speed, the samurai is still encumbered by armour even if it's tiled or plated so they should still receive penalties to movement speed and stamina but have the fastest counters and parries, they're not bloody ninjas, they're wearing a full set of armour.
Obviously common sense applies here bonus's and penalties should apply to weapon type as well as faction, ie the 2 handed Axe Viking cannot have the fastest attack speed due to the weight and encumberance of the weapon, however for his class ( 2 handed ) he should have the fastest attack speed. I think it makes sense......
Orochi is not OP. that's for certain. Annoying? Sometimes. Mostly due to the recent R1 R1 GB unending combo. That's it. None of these characters are OP. All well balanced. People cry because they can't adapt to a new persons fight style is just like every other fighting game. Shut up and pay attention and counter.. ffs. No character has GAve me a harder time then any other. If your good.. your good.. if you suck. Then go back to 1v1 AI duels until you can get better.
Babies.
Developers have already confirmed the Orochi is completely OP and WILL be nerfed in coming patches.Originally Posted by Muppetlords Go to original post
They discovered this from previous and THIS Alpha gameplay as THEY were playing the game. That, and they have metrics of Orochi being top KDA in the game currently to an insane degree.
You can spam "nooo don't nerf my fun class that I love rampaging across the fields with!" all you want but it WILL be balanced or the game will suffer GREATLY with everyone playing nothing but Orochi.
