    Ranged Class

Loving the classes available so far in the closed Alpha. I was wondering if Ubisoft has any plans for a ranged type class for each of the three factions. Something with a short bow, long bow, or throwing projectiles. I am also curious as to if there will be any classes with any support type abilities or is everything primarily offensive.

As a player who loves to play ranged classes in games, sniper, ranger, bowman... I think a ranged class would be a bad idea.

The combat system is built on a very "up close and personal" view of your chosen opponent. Having someone who fights from a great distance (greater than melee) would screw with the balance. Also, what about defense? An arrow comes at you, what can you do? Dodge, obviously, but blocking? Only with a shield? Vikings and Conqueror will be happy. Assassins not so much. Block with weapon? Would take a big chunk of realism out of the game.

Don't take this the wrong way. I'm not trying to be mean, I just want this game, that I love, to be as solid as it can.

Agreed. Ranged would throw balance right out of the window. You would just have people hiding across the map shooting at you. When you come after them? They'll just run and repeat. I'd say no to a full ranged class.

i think range is a bad idea

i think ranged character will destory the fight system. the few ranged attacks already in the game are hard.
The fight system base on fight 1 vs 1. Lock, fight , block , parry, guard break. Its all for melee, if you have a range character you can circumvent all of these things and then the game will become a fps

Hey, just let me deflect arrows as Orichi and I'll be damn happy to fight longer range characters.

This wouldn't be a good idea for this game.

I think Orochi's kunai is already a bad idea (seems a pattern most of the bad ideas seem to crop with that one :P).

    Like it! (especially for objective-modes)

I really hope, that there will be range weapons. As well as all kind of historical accurate weapons like spears for example. Those classes could add an other depth to objective driven modes like defending a battering ram, castle wall or tower. You would HAVE to choose classes which can defend against others, and it would block of certain paths. You'd as well need to improve your teamplay. If they wanted 1 on 1 they would have made a fencing game.

oh please, never add a ranged class to this game.

It's good for opponents that try to run away with minimal health
