I love the orochi playstyle, just having to move around a lot and attack quick. I can easily take out a conqueror if he/she doesnt spam shield bash.

Overall i think It's pretty balanced so far, revenge mode should be buffed though.

I love how intense the combat is, its the best part of the game by far. It feels skillfull, heroes are different from each other and its fun to learn new ways to use your move sets. The pacing is fantastic. You nailed the combat.

However i dont really like fighting multiple opponents, unless they are low health where you can try to position yourself smartly to take one down fast, the only real option is to block untill revenge mode is active, its boring, i dont feel like my skill made me win, rather revenge mode made me win the engagement. Fighting against multiple opponents needs to be reworked. Maybe a special stance specifically for fighting multiple people at once?

Also fighting against 3 enemies never ends well, unless they are bad. I would like to see something implemented where if im against 3 enemies, anyone of them i kill cannot be revived and takes full 15 second respawn penalty, that way at least i feel like i acomplished something if i kill one oponent but i still die, otherwise he will just get revived as if nothing happened.

Revenge mode may be a necesity, im not sure, but i dont like it at all, neither when im using it or when its used against me, it feels cheap.

Also please restrict revenge mode to Dominion like you do with feats, it has no place in 1vs1 or 2vs2.

    In response to the poll

Very excited to see how far this combat system can make it in esports!!! I am a fan for life. With that aside, I would like to also add that there are going to be more classes, correct? That being said, I find balancing the combat will be a rewarding challenge. Also, please consider dedicated multiplayer servers. Thank you

to be honest for a more sacual player like me the combat is to complikated... and I´m sure this wil drive mayn potential players out of tzhe game.
You have to focus and use too many keys at same time and many feel not natual.

    My main concern :
remove the need to have L2 presses all thew time for a lock (instead of press it one time to have a lock , another time to remove it
the need to all the time using the right stick together with blocking, attaching and even at special moves is at least for someone like me a killer... I can´t handle it I stoped the test because of it made no sense for me with it

beside that the starting classes seems for me to identical to make any difference

Combat feels very tight to me, I feel like there are a lot of options unique to each class and enough depth that I can improve even after s number of hours. I'm a revenge mode convert, it can really save you in a 2v1 fight and give you a chance, if it pops during a 1v1 they took too long to kill you, but that said it shouldn't be in duel mode. Some moves and characters will need minor balance patches, but that's what this is all for, and the base system seems solid aside from p2p silliness.

    Friendly hits

I'm not a fan of how you can be staggered if you are hit by your teammates attack. Not sure if it's a bug or not.

Had a guy playing beer kernel in fuel and glitch revenge everytime the round started and again in the middle

Our third poll focuses on the Combat system. We look forward to hearing your thoughts, and don't hesitate to expand on your choice in the comments below!
The combat system is ok like most other people you can't really fight against 2v1 r 3v1 I think you should be able to defend against 2v1 r 3v1 better with out relaying on the revenge makes for better fights and more skill. also sometimes the blocking does not block attacks I time my blocks correctly but I still get hit.

    Combat

    Combat system Pros and Cons

    Pros:

-Its unique for each character which makes the game fun for hours and hours.
-The depth of the combat system makes it so, if you work hard on mastering one of the characters, you can win almost every encounter.
-The veriety of attack and defence options make for a good combo style of play.
    -Even button mashing is fun.

    Cons:

-When outnumbered its hard, almost impossible to survive, unless you activate revenge. In which case you either beat almost all of your opponents and die to the last guy, or you are just destroyed instantly.
-When you "gang up" on someone its becomes a clusterf**k.
-Sometimes the unblockables hit you even when you dodge em (Example - Kensei hit me with his unblockable top attack although i have dodged to the side - its like the attack auto-targets you even when you reposition, which i think is not supposed to happen).
-The Mouse and Keyboard need some tweaking. Its not bad but could be better. At times when i try to block attacks from the side and swipe to either left or right, my stance just stays top and i get hit.

This is my opinion for the time beying. Thank you for choosing me for the Closed Alpha.

The combat system in For Honor is different from combat systems in other hack and slash games. In most hack and slash games you charge at the enemy and button mash (or spam) random attacks and hope it kills them. But in For Honor, you actually have to use strategy. Each character has their own attacks and counters, and requires a lot of practice to learn. If you charge at your enemy and randomly swing your weapon, not only would you slow down, but your enemy can just block and counter you.
