    'zerk

Tips and strategies on this whirling dervish of a man?

You can dodge out of your attacks.

You can constantly change directions of your attacks during your infinite combo.

You can chain your infinite combo into your heavy combo.

Well met Tachikoma, can't figure if this post needs help fighting Zerks or fighting as Zerk. If the former and they are skilled you have to expect defects, stay away from walls if you can and the most they get is probably a light attack. Feint heavys to bait their guard, guard break to get your own free light, and if you have it unblockables can't be deflected only parried so you can try those. Finally keep your top guard up. Most Zerker attacks are top stance, warden can really punish this, their dodge attacks, all three of them, are top stance as well as their chain finisher/strongest hit, watch for those and be ready on the top guard and you can lock them out of most of their kit.

As for playing with the Zerk, if your opponent isn't good at parries or deflects, then just hammer with the infinite combo and switch up your stance it will often overwhelm them. If they can parry or deflect you have to not feed attacks. Cancel heavys with side dodge then throw in a different attack to trick them, use your dauntless to power through Roachi deflects and just tank the damage, and if you really want to get down and dirty then wallzerker them defelct into wall stagger followed by a top heavy.

That's pretty much all there is to the Zerk.

My main issue right now with zerk is sticking to people. I can't seem to get in close enough. People consistently keep their distance and any lunge forward is matched with their lunge in reverse. He does have a leap attack that powers through attacks but it's got a long animation that leaves him open if it doesn't land. Any advice on closing the gap and keeping it tight?

Keeping distance from the Zerk is a good plan on their part. You just have to watch for your opening. Since your dodge attacks are all top stance if they keep their distance they can pretty well expect and counter any of your incoming attacks, so be careful.
