I am so tired of someone fighting me and the moment I am about to deal a death blow they disengage and roll out of my attack and run. I earned that kill by out dueling them they should not have a get out of fight free card by doing this. Either just remove the roll all together or link sprint speed to health where if you are low health you sprint way slower so you can not start running like that when a fight starts to not go your way. The only exception to this should be if you use a feat to increase your speed. I am tired of winning duels only for the guy to run back to his spawn and wait on friends to help.
I feel the OP's pain and I think there should be some slight punish tactics for runners that are very low on health. Otherwise in dominion if you scare the enemy away from the objective you are technically doing your job even though you don't get a kill for it. It is less satisfying but there is still some time to tune those mechanics before final release.
I understand PTFO and I do....I never chase them unles they are in break state but I do not think you should be allowed to choose to fight me then when you realize holy crab this guy is good and im getting destroyed be able to dip with one bar of health left. if you are at full health and choose not to engage fine. When I do chase after them and try to swing heavy they just roll under that swing too. I find it to be a cheap tactic if you can back or side dash then run ok but that roll is cheap.
I have to disagree.
Running away makes sense, why feed your opponent if you can avoid it? There are numerous chase tactics to handle players who flee. Paying attention to their health and finishing them off with a combo to prevent running, positioning your opponent in a corner, positioning your opponent near the minions, ranged feats on many classes, different run speeds on classes, untargeted strikes that track enemies, etc.
Dominion isn't a duel. I had the pleasure of fighting your warden in duel and you're a very good fighter. Dominion is a different ball game though, if you practice how to deal with this one weak area you'll be incredible; I believe in you.
I've noticed often times when I play warden in dominion (if that's what you're running) the matches I win and do well in are the ones I just focus on objectives, not dying , and running when outnumbered or using feats to even the odds. I might not have the highest K/D but I play well enough that the enemy has to use multiple people to push me off my objective, they die, or I use my quick chat beacon for assistance in a stalemate and live long enough that I get reinforced.
Thank you for the compliment yote I mainly play Raider and like I said I rarely chase but it feels cheap to me I mainly sit in B with body count on self sustaining waiting for a fight and float if I need to but I do not like the idea of I am gonna fight him.....nope he just chained me for three quarters of my health Im out.....I like the idea of sprint speed being linked to your health.Originally Posted by yote224 Go to original post
Linking sprint speed to health is not a bad idea but then what about running away from a 3v1 or 4v1? I'd prefer to be able to run away from 3v1/4v1 situations if I so choose even at the expense of watching yet another opponent run for the hills after I went to the trouble of defeating them in combat.
I really do sympathise with the OP as I've experience those deeply annoying matches when the whole enemy team picks fast characters and continually just leg it when you get their health down to with an inch of life. It sucks but there are counters to it such as using a ranged feat to shoot them in the back as they trundle off in disgrace or gang up on them. I don't think sprint speed needs to be nerfed because that will affect other areas of the game. There are alternatives that exist in order to combat runners and some of them are deeeeeply satisfying- I once witnessed a runner run straight into a barrage of arrows that was activated by my teammate. It was hilarious and much deserved (the guy had been fleeing from all of us during the whole match)
