I don't think I need to elaborate here, everyone's going ACOG all day, what's the point of voluntarily handicaping yourself and taking anything else than ACOG ?
That's premium **** balance here, you can balance the guns all you want if people only care for the first bullet thanks to the ACOG you're actually shooting yourself in the foot.
The only solution I can think of is locking zoomed scopes to DMRs.
I can think of three reasons:
1) There are some guns that have so much recoil that it's better to use non-ACOG on them.
2) On some of the smaller maps being able to ADS without limiting your FoV can be beneficial too.
3) You can use non-ACOGs with angled grip for faster ADSing when you jump into somebody and need that extra window of time to ADS faster.
But I do agree it would make much more sense to give ACOGs to DRMs.
I don't agree with you on some points though :
1) That can be practiced on, at some point recoil doesn't matter anymore (Buck's C8 gets very manageable), newer players might be be troubled with recoil but eh, nothing long term
2) True but very situational, the ACOG isn't unusable close range either, it's even sometimes very good.
3) That's true, but hey, you can kill them from afar so why bother ?
Holy,Death about sums it up and it depends on playstyle and what you want to do as well. If I am defending in tight on some maps I will use an ACOG if I know that i'm vulnerable to longer range encounters. If I'm roaming and likely to need to ADS fast an ACOG is a real handicap for me. Same on attacking, if we're going in fast and direct an ACOG is not a good choice for me.
Maybe. It comes down to personal preference. I use red dot on C8-SFW with flash hider because I treat it like CQC rifle (even more so with underbarrel shotgun attached) and it makes recoil and close and medium range very manageable. For longer ranges I have CAMRS with ACOG and muzzle brake, which removes recoil almost completely so you can chain shots like crazy at all ranges.Originally Posted by ViscountVicomte Go to original post
I am simply saying that some people prefer to ADS and not lose as much FoV when doing so as the zoom sometimes can hinder you.Originally Posted by ViscountVicomte Go to original post
Cutting corners and fast strikes. Imagine that an enemy is hiding behind a corner. If you sprint you lose ADS stance and thus your accuracy. If you move while ADSing you will move much slower. With the angled grip and non-ACOG you can take advantage of your speed by rushing through the doorway, instantly ADSing and firing. I had some such cases. Or you can bump into someone while moving, which ain't that uncommon. Having that faster ADS time can mean difference between life and death. Does it mean that it's better to kill enemies from afar? Sure. But you can't always decide where engage your enemy (which is why defenders are heavier on shotguns than attackers ever were as defenders can decide where to defend while attackers are forced to push) and it depends on your playstyle.Originally Posted by ViscountVicomte Go to original post
By the way, it seems like there might be changes regarding which weapons will have access to ACOG and which won't: twitter.com/Rainbow6Game/status/776127172067127296
On the higher level ACOG isn't the way to go, believe me.Originally Posted by ViscountVicomte Go to original post
