I thought that's what happened, but if it's not, I think they should make it that way. If you do damage, you get the kill, completely eliminating kill steals.

I'm sorry, but as a team player, I don't trust my teammates to not ****in die in a duel, so I'm going to just kill them for you. Thing about this game, if you hit within the last few seconds, you get the kill as well regardless if you landed the last hit or not, and you still get a lot of points for kill assists, and points don't seem to matter anyways, the team who finally wins is just what seems to matter here. Sorry, not sorry. I'd feel more sorry if I were playing Halo or something.

It's players like OP that makes team-based games like this insufferable unless you're in a group of friends.

Maybe the person who just "stole" the "credit" for your kill is just trying to win the match? You know, like you're supposed to do?

Not to mention the fact that you can just farm the soldiers to get the most xp, which is really what you're crying about, isn't it?

Personally I like to take my time with my duels but people always just charge in and start attacking the one I'm duelling against then I pretty much just stand there as they kill them. I never liked kill stealing in games and even if multiple people are attacking the same enemy it makes me feel like dogs fighting over scraps. When others are fighting I stand back and only step in if their health is low and maybe give the enemy one or two hits then step back again. I do think it ruins it a bit when people interrupt duels, because as this is a skill based game people want to win by their skill not by 2v1 or whatever or even being denied the chance to win the fight because other people come along and interfere. As time goes on I think it will be seen as a very rude thing to do to interfere in someone else's fight.

I see people here worried about points and people here more concerned with the ends justifying means.

I will direct your attention to how different classes progress faster from different forms of combat.

The assassin classes gain feats and more renown by winning 1v1 combat. By stealing an assassin's kill you're actually crippling your team by preventing them from unlocking feats faster.

The vanguard class progress better from victory in being outnumbered. By stealing their kills you're again preventing them from progressing faster.

The heavy class progress from assisting in kills more than the other classes. This is where the trifecta weirdness comes in.

There are more ways these classes vary and I suggest everyone who is unaware of these differences to read the "how to play" page for each character to learn more.

If you're a vanguard or assassin stealing a kill from another vanguard or assassin, be aware that you're not always helping them like you think you are. I'd suggest first paying attention to if your ally or enemy has more health and use your better judgement. It's not a perfect system but that's why we're testing, right? My suggestion in my thread was to replace the quick chat option "thanks!" With something that resembles "I got it" or "back off", maybe we can come up with something better as a community or at least spread this knowledge around.
Now if you're a conq, you scale well off assisting so it's more of a grey area. You also progress off of boosting your control zones so it you're contested in a zone go for killing 2 birds with 1 stone, eliminate the threat with a teammate so you can go back to boosting for rigteous feats and points.

In the end, knowledge is good, dominion is an objective game in the end so learning how to play to your team's strengths results in a stronger team and results in less frustration.
I took the liberty to quote the entire post, it's the last post of the previous page and it would be a shame if people missed it.

I 100% agree with this. Not all classes earn most points from killing blows. If I play conqueror (the knight with the shield) and hold a flag point for ages versus 3 oponents without doing a lot of damage because I focus on not dying, when my teamates come in and kill them, should I get 0 reward because I did not inflict X% of damage on the victims ? Obviously nope, and the game devs already thought about it.

It seems to me that the final score on dominion is pretty well balanced atm.

We should also keep in mind that high-level players trying to have "serious" teamwork will be speaking via discord/TS/etc, and it will be very clear if "Come on guys I need help! This Orochi is going to gut meeee!" or "Let me do this I got this I got this let me duel this guy!". The "quick chat" suggestion for being able to quickly send a "help plz" or "Don't help me" is also a good idea IMO, for the cases when voice chat is not an option.

Edit : oh and if you love to "duel" so much, there is a "duel" game mode just for that ;-)

At first I thought it was just us both hitting them, but time and time again another player would run up behind me and hit my target for one hit and take all the credit.

This game is based on kills and skill, yet you have players coming in and last hitting enemies to take credit for your kill. If you don't want this game to be as toxic as an MOBA then there needs to be some way to adjust this problem.

I think the easiest solution would be whoever did the most damage gets credit for the kill. I really don't see why MOBA's don't use this idea, instead they have little kids who run around getting last hits on enemies in order to make more credits to level and get better gear faster.
I agree with the original poster; the 'last hit' being used to count as a kill is a system which needs to be changed. I have had similar experiences in games (like Paragon) where you do all the work of weakening an enemy only to have somebody else get credit for the kill. The idea of most damage dealt gives credit for the kill is a good idea!

You know what's worse? People who run up to your fight, and SLICE YOU, because they're too stupid to position themselves. I died so many times because my idiotic teammate interrupted my attacks D: Or flat out used the sprint+middle mouse on ME. I mean come on.

I am making the following assumptions here:

    1) You think you are better than you are.
    2) You have an inability to combo down and kill a bad guy on your own quickly
    3) You seem to think it matters so much YOU get the kill.
    4) That guy just saved your life because of 1 above.

I NEED a KILL SECURED Emote.
