I've seen many people having trouble with the blocking and dodging combat system.
First we have to know about special class attacks, these attacks are highlighted with a little thunder symbol when they are performed by our opponent, some can deal damage, some other only stun you, these special attacks can't be blocked, and they have to be dodged.
Second. Blocking defense, some clases have low blocking defense, and therefore will be harder for them to succesfully block an incoming attack, for example the Orochi, being said so, Orochi has to rely on dodging more than on blocking.
Third. Weapon range will have to be considered when you're tryng to dodge, the fact that we have a dodge button, doesn't mean that it will let us dodge every single attack just by pressing it at the same time than when the enemy its attacking. For example, Kensei weapon has a long range, therefore if you're fighting against a Kensei from up close, it will always hit you when you try to dodge backwards, so you have to dodge from side to side, when dodging from side to side you need also to consider the direction of the enemy attack, if you dodge to the opposite direction they will hit you, because you're heading to were the enemy's attack is heading. Fighting agains't a Berserker for example, you can dodge backwards since his weapon range it's too low.
A good strategy when dodging its to unlock the opponent and then roll away from time to time, as it will give you a more open room to consider your options.
That's pretty much everything i can say, if anyone has something to add, be welcome to do so ^^ ¡have fun everyone!![]()

How about this one...my opponent is holding Down-Right [Warden], so I'm holding Down-Right [Kensei]. He attacks, I wait for the block so I can retaliate, but I take half my health from a quick attack that SHOULD have been blocked. I decide to switch to an Up attack because he's still in the Down-Right marker, but I attack Down-Right and get blocked DESPITE seeing that I'm going to attack from above on the marker?!? The in-game reactions to attack-direction changes are too slow and cumbersome even on classes which are supposed to be fast, and even on classes that are fast as all hell when played by a BOT. This combined with the lack of satisfaction when winning or losing a match due to the abysmally small rewards on offer leave me frustrated and dissatisfied. I've already uninstalled the Alpha and won't be playing it again, and definitely won't be buying the game at this rate.![]()

To Dingo9012: If the rewards were bigger, you'd have everything in a matter of hours. They are made this way on purpose. The real big rewards you get from daily quests (Daily Orders), which award tons of Steel (the currency). That being said, I completely agree with you on the stance system. At the moment it is horribly unresponsive, and before the OP asks me whether I know about special class attacks; Yes, I do. I'm far in prestige levels already on my Warden, and I pretty much know everything the 6 available classes can do. This doesn't help me though, because despite blocking left on a left attack, sometimes the attack goes through anyway. Oh, he switched to top? I block top, he hits through it. I try to retaliate with a top light attack, for some reason it still attacks with a left light attack. Completely unresponsive and impossible to play with, considering the pace of the game. I'll be playing it for sure because I trust they'll fix this, but for now it is really a constant pain for me to even make use of blocking. I've changed up my entire playstyle on Warden to revolve around never having to block opponents. I literally play both locked and unlocked, making sure the opponent is never in range or in a position where it is impossible to dodge an attack. This is not how it should be, though, so I'm hoping for improvements.
Main problem with dodging and blocking has nothing to do with understanding moves, range, etc. It is quite simply LAG.
Game after game I am seeing people with red connections going 16/1 with the unstoppable title. You can't hit them and when you block it means nothing because the image you see is wrong. With the speed an Orochi can change stance, it has become the preferred character for bad connections, because the lagging image at the other end cannot keep up with what they are doing.
I think you guys got laggy. I'v played around 6 hours and didn't get that to occur even once. I think only that the indicator about stance should be smaller when you atack not disappear since i'm not sure if changing stances while comboing even works (and tutorials says that you should change stance while attacking).
