    Ganking Costs Emotions

I recently just played in the same match as some youtuber child that has his microphone on in the game while he commentates.

What was interesting about it was the evolution of him coming into the game interested and enthusiastic. And by the end of the few matches he wouldn't stop sighing then left.

Why, because the enemy team were a bunch of organized gankers.

They exclusively would only fight 2v1 or more, and would run anytime they got near death or were confronted in 1v1. And thus were unkillable because it's impossible to avoid organized ganks, chase down cowards or guard against multiple attacks when every enemy is attacking rapidly and guard breaking you if you try to use defense mode. Yet everybody says this is all so easy to deal with even though none of the people I play with seem to be able to, including me, and thus the whole enemy team has 10-15 kills each by the end.

Yeah. Laugh My ****ing *** Off at people who think ganking is fair and can counteracted easily. Yeah, casual ganking that happens randomly from coincidence, that's what everybody is talking about. Meanwhile, real gankers are running around destroying this game and all of its playability, and at this rate the developers won't even fix it because of all the children saying "it's fine." because they don't know what they're even talking about.

Super. It's great how like with every game I play, people are running around abusing all kinds of garbage; yet when I draw attention to this all I unanimously hear is "You're wrong." and so everything stays broken.

    Absolutely stellar species.

Once again... someone complaining about the 4 people on the other team working as a team.

    "Why do they gank! AHHH!"
Sitting back and watching that 1v1 in a 4v4 team based gamemode is doing nothing to help us win. Letting you melt 3/4th of an allies health away before he kills you is not going to help us in the next engagement. Even if you do win the engagement and I am standing and watching the whole thing... whats next?
Do you fight me now with 3/4th of your life missing? 1 good chain and your done? But thats not a fair 1v1 because you have alot of health missing! I better let you scurry back off to base to heal up.

Ganking gives one side the advantage in that engagement but you still have 3 other teammates. What are they doing? Since the enemy "just keep ganking and wont stop!", everyone should know its coming. Anticipate the gank and gank the ganker (thats always fun). Just because one team does not want to work together does not mean you should punish the other team that is.

I see your point, and At one hand if you can use team work to counter that it is nice. I think that is why this game has voice chat implemented on it already... But gank is not fun and this game is about Honor after all... On previous Alpha I saw less ganking than i am seeing on this one. Fortunately on this game it is easier to counter than most of the others if your teamates come to your aid after you call for help.

Sadly it seems most people ignore an kind of voice chat (iv read many places this game is best played with tunes cranked up to get you in the killing mood!... which is counter productive) and even more ignore quickchat or help pings. A little communication would go a long way but I just chalk it all up to its an Alpha. If it was a full release game I would eventually find a small crew that enjoyed playing as a team to run with.

I have seen many people use the name of the game as 'proof' the devs want you to play a certain way. If the Devs expected 4v4 to go down as proper, fair, and honorable 1v1s... they would not have a handful of features to increase your survivability when outnumbered, 7+ videos on how to use those features when outnumbered, and an entire sticky thread dedicated to tips and tricks to increase your odds and how to deal with being outnumbered. Getting ganked by an organized team does suck but its a very legitimate strategy that the devs expect to happen. Its like complaining the devs who make MOBAS do not want assassin classes to gank or devs who make FPS 'search and destory' style games do not want people to roam across the map and flank from behind. They all suck but are team-based strategies.

For Honor is a battlecry, not an obligation

I don't want to say you're wrong... But the AI does this type of behavior as well. I have watched the bots come in and 2v1 myself or a teammate and if they get low oh HP they run, or at least attempt to. So The only difference I see between the Bots and the Players is the players might be able to do it better? I don't understand what the problem is? Ganking has been a feature of multiplayer games since they allowed more than 1v1.

    this.

I don't get why people get so overly angry and pissed off at people doing teamwork and then start whining about it in great detail, because their virtual honor is somehow being attacked. Of course, I'm going to play with my friends as a team. If I see one of my squad-mates having trouble defeating someone, I'm going to help. If I'm having trouble, I'm super happy, if someone takes on an enemy with me? And yeah, the bots do it, too, sooo maybe ubisoft really wants people to team up?

1vs1 is the duel mode, not dominion.

playing like a ganker is the way to win in a competitive fight, yes thats true - but it sucks the motivation out of my soul - makes me go hollow...

If you can see a 2v1 coming and you're not confident in your ability to space and survive until help comes (if it isn't able to come then you have a different problem) then do as they do: run. In a 2v2 or 4v4 it's a team game and you have to expect team play. If you don't do 2v1's because of your honor, that's nice but you CAN'T demand anyone else does. Frankly, although I lose most 2v1 encounters, I will typically welcome that in a 2v2 if my teammate drops. If we're grossly outmatched, sure, it's not very fun but you only get better at it by trying it. There's always Duel mode. Or bot games if you're in for Dominion matches. Do be warned that bots do like to 2v1.

Actually, funny story, my random buddy dropped out of a brawl and my bot replacement was a hardcore ganker: demolished the enemy and just blitzed to my aid in one round. It's kind of how the game is meant to be played. Don't take it too seriously or, if you aim to be competitive, get scummy.

it seems that the bots you get as support in such situation are *usually* stronger then your normal bots, as they tend to be hyper-aggressive...
    (never underestemate a bot)
and all that said... you cant run away with a conq...
