That may work with a keyboard but on a controller you only have so many buttons.Originally Posted by Storm_blade24 Go to original post
Exactly. This game was developed almost exclusively for consoles. They just threw in a PC port. Imo, we should have the option to map our own controls including the blocking system.Originally Posted by BGS danzBANGIN Go to original post
From what I hear from the PC side of For Honor, it does seem they developed with a gamepad in mind. I also thought I saw a Ubi commentor said you could remap keys for the PC alpha though? Maybe he was referring to the final release.Originally Posted by Storm_blade24 Go to original post
I think the blocking system works pretty well... for one on one, against most opponents. It's a more technical alternative to the old Assassin's Creed style "hit a button to counter" thing, but that means it's more complicated.
But when hit-spammed by quick strikers, blocking becomes unplayably hard. You have no time to hit back, even if you can manage it.
What's more, when facing multiple opponents, they can easily coordinate their strikes so that blocking them becomes actually impossible. Yes, I know, it's not supposed to be easy to fight back when you're ganged up on, but it shouldn't be over in a matter of a few seconds, either. You want to be able to hold on until help can come, or at least make them feel like you'll take time to dispatch while they could be moving on.
Unfortunately, I can't really think of a good fix for this other than making attacks slower, or turning every fight one-on-one, which wouldn't make any sense for the kind of game this is intended to be!
