I'm disappointed in my experience.
I'm having fun but still have reservations.
I'm loving the game but there's still some work to do.
This game is the bestest, don't change anything!
So far I have been enjoying the game a lot but I definitely have some reservations about it. I'm going to start with the negatives but it will end on a positive note. The first being how easy/simple the bot AI is. I am primarily a co-op/singleplayer type of gamer so I tend to only buy games if I can have an enjoyable experience by myself or against the AI. Unfortunately the bots are extraordinarily easy to fight. At this point it's too late in the game to change the AI so I honestly don't plan to purchase the game but if you get a chance going forward I would recommend looking at some variable difficulty options for them.
The second thing is the amount of steel you get and the price needed to buy anything. You get like 20 for a win and need 500 or more to unlock stuff or get packs of equipment, etc. I know the plan is to use this to force microtransactions and that's certainly a working business model but as a consumer I don't appreciate it and it lessens my desire to purchase the game in the first place.
Mouse controls are difficult to navigate. More specifically I have a lot of trouble getting my blocks/swings to go to the right place with the mouse. I feel like much of the time I move it in the direction it should be but it doesn't actually block/attack there. I have the same issue with attacks on the gamepad but I think I'm just supposed to delay before I mash swing again.
I mean no offense to the team but I've learned with alphas/betas that what you see is usually what you get in the full game so that being said I was disappointed in the lack of map/mode variety. Right now there are only a couple and they really don't feel very different. I would have liked to see bigger more sprawling maps and maybe some places inside the castle or deeper in the forest. You have a fantastic art team, put them to work!
On the brighter side the game is beautiful and runs way better than I would have expected it to on my machine. The only problems I've had have been the occasional, albeit severe, fps drop in Dominion. I often love just standing on an edge and looking around at the gorgeous scenary. Before I get kicked to my death of course.
The combat, which is remiscent of Age of Conan, is bloody brilliant. I absolutely love the way you've done it and when things match up just right you have some of the coolest looking battles I've seen in a game in a long time. Major props to whoever designed this system.
I like outfitting my characters with different looking equipment. It sounds simple and it's a common mechanic but I really like being able to customize their appearance/armor appearance. It's a really nice feature.
The video guides in how to play are great, I learned a great deal from watching them.
The little minions running around really make me feel powerful and are a nice mental break from some of the more focus requiring battles. I can just run out and slaughter a whole bunch of little guys and feel like a cool guy. At first I wasn't sure how I would feel about them but they are a very welcome part of the game. I only wish there were more of them sometimes so I could be in constant battle. I understand why they're not though, need room for hero fights and other stuff without the little guys constantly getting int he way.
Overall I enjoy the game a lot, I think it has some fantastic ideas, but the simple AI, item costs that seem to imply microtransactions, and lack of map/mode variety turns me away from what may otherwise have been one of my favorite titles in a good while.
Worm4reall said it. "Tutorial is severely lacking, teaches you basic controls then keeps zerging you with 3 guys at once until you quit in frustration."
It also mis-explains how blocking multiple opponents works, telling you to just tilt your guard in their direction, instead of the direction of their strike.
Actually if you're blocking multiple opponents, you do just guard in the direction of the external attackersOriginally Posted by Gunwild Go to original post
I am loving the game so far took some getting use to but now i rock. However my AI team mates that i sometimes end up with are below average in the Intelligence area. They don't revive at all, Run past me when i am fighting someone and don't help, And don't take a hint that i just join in a fight with them against another opponent. I am sure i am not the only one saying this so i can't wait to see this fixed in the final game.Keep up the good work!
The combat system is fun. The matches are interesting, but I've got to hold back any real judgement until I get a taste of the campaigns. The matches alone are not enough to keep me interested. After a day and a half of them, I'm already a little burnt out on the same old matches over and over. I'm sure the real thing will have many more maps and hopefully more variation, but it's the campaign that will really make or break the game to me.
Learn to parry. It's easy, reminds me of when everyone was complaining about Little Mac in Smash Bros when it first came out.Originally Posted by ThatSnekyRusky Go to original post
Really loving the game so far obviously needs a bit of work but really loving it so far.
Some things ive noticed is that I think there needs to be some kind of hidden mmr in duel's and 2v2s. if an experienced player goes up against a new player its most of the time
(at least in my case) just complete slaughter through the entire game. And also I feel like gaurd breaking needs some work, Its just better to guard break instead of trying to block then hit, mabey add some kind of delay or make it easier to counter guard break to balance it out abit.
Also alot of players are saying Orochi is overpowerd i havent found that the case at all you just gotta find a way to counter that player.
Every Orochi ive played against has had a diferent play style,
some will only deflect then attack and some will spam light attacks, its really simple to deal with if you look at the way they play.
The only thing i think that needs a nerf is Orochi's deflect light attack, either make to a bit less damage or make it dodgeable.
