While trying out duel 1v1 (PvP) I was matched up against AI a few times and received a loot item,160 xp and 6 steel. The rewards were the player vs player rewards and not just 25xp you would normally get from an AI match.
Just lucky. The game will drop an AI in place of a human when there is non available (just as in the 4 v 4 game format).
