After playing the game for a couple of hours today I feel as though the game has a great foundation to be great but there are mechanics that will prevent it from doing so.
Firstly and probably the most important issue is the balance; the classes need a serious rebalancing. Some heroes particularly Viking seem too heavy in movement and attacking causing them to be easy picking for. Samurai to easily have the upper hand when fighting one-on-one and this goes for all of the classes there doesn't seem to be any real balancing so much that everyone online will quickly move to being a samurai after discovering how much a disadvantage they are at. Samurai though I feel have the most advantage with their speed. Knights shield aren't good enough; they don't absorb enough damage. Also could be just me but blocking in te game, one of the foundation mechanics seems to be a bit broken to the point where you're probably better off picking a samurai and do nothing but attack. There were several times where the correct block position was selected and I was still hit for massive damage. Is that a mistake or mechanics like critical hits or something? Another bug I noticed was abilities don't always activate but start cooldowns as if they were activated. Lag may have played a role in the blocking problem but that's the only reason I can think of. The atmosphere was very uninspiring. The only sounds I heard were raindrops and warriors grunting. I would think to hear the trumpets of war ; just music to get you in the mood.
Things I did like about the game included different classes of each faction and unlockable abilities and customization. Huge battles for controlling points and combat mechanics in theory. Very cool combos and executions. menu interface. multiplayer aspects
Mixed feelings so far.
I will be updating the post as I continue to play more.
