    Problem with upgradeable weapons

It seems like a decent idea on paper, but how this game is made its most likely going to turn VERY competitive, and I think the whole upgraded weapons thing will 100% screw over the flow of that. I think there should be a mode were there is only cosmetic differences, but everyone uses the base equipment stats.

No it doesnt really screw with the flow as each player has diffirent play styles, with upgradable weapons this allows that player to customise to his or her play style instead of everyone doing the same thing.

I understand where you are coming from, but there are a few things that should be considered before condemning up-gradable gear. Firstly, it isn't that big of an issue as long as their match maker takes into account weapon and armor stat changes when creating a ranked match. In non ranked play, yes it will be a huge issue because players with the better gear will have a huge advantage over those that do not. In a ranked game players/teams should be filtered by not only player stats but gear stats as well. Even if they don't, ranked games will by their very nature filter the players with the best gear/skill to the top so they end up fighting each other, while those with lesser gear/skill remain towards the bottom. Even people smurfing will be filtered first by skill and then by gear in a ranked match making system.

Secondly, the gear in this game forces players to be more specialized in one area it seems. So there is some balance and not all bonuses with gear. That being said, gear complimenting player skill can make all the difference in the world. I've seen it too many times where top players get their amazing gear and then join public matches and proceed to carry their team and completely dominate the other team by themselves ruining the game experience for new players. Hopefully this game strikes a nice balance between feeling super powerful and not being noob stomping fest.

Thanks for your thought out reply, and yeah, I agree with you on both of your points. I do too, hope that they actually find a nice balance so it doesn't pull a chivalry.

No, just really remove stats on gear. Gear should be absolutely nothing but cosmetic only. Make the game MORE like Chivalry so that skill is the only thing that matters, not some out of game menu decision making that actually forces differences in game. I want to see my opponent and know everything there is to know and just beat him because I'm better than him, not because I put some dumb stat on my items before I ever fought the guy.
