Spent a while in practise mode with Boris the Damaged Viking, movement smooth in all transitions between defence and attack. Blocking becomes almost a memory muscle after continued engagements, say 30+. Attack could become a button smash, but Boris was tiring quicker with rapid button touches. Nice touch, forces the player to study and learn tactics to combat each AI Bot. Fluid attacks seem to cause more damage and render the opponents replies ineffective, almost like one long combination to defeat the differing classes.
I agree that rewards are slim, say one in every 3 games, but if the drop rates increase with level it would encourage more to practise and hone techniques. Saying that the last weapon I had dropped was a beast.
Graphically for an alpha it is lovely. Both in toon interaction and in scenery. Customisation appears well worked and worth exploring, differening weapon types play very different, be it axe from close range to spear from a meter away. Again more learning and practise to become competitive.
Server has struggled at times, mainly in matchmaking. But only had one kick.
So far, so much promise.
