    Couldn't handle using the mouse to change guard

    I tried the keyboard setup, I really did. I tried to get used to using the mouse to change stance but it felt weird, especially since I am used to using the mouse to change my camera view in every game I play. Blocking while trying to see what was behind me and face them was impossible. I had no choice but to switch to a controller from my XBox One, and I am not the console player in the house. Even so, it was easier to get used to the controller than it was the keyboard and mouse. My husband and son-in-law both quit playing completely within a couple hours of playing because they couldn't hack the mouse controls. They PVP on their games every chance they get, so they were both disappointed they couldn't comfortably play For Honor. My husband even tried moving keybinds, but the game uses so many keys already, there wasnt anywhere else for the guard to really go and still work. Maybe putting the guard on the 1-3 keys and moving the feats somewhere else. I don' t know.

    My mouse experience

    I enjoyed the game a lot, very pretty, and the immersion was spectacular. I did have troubles with the controls, I was on PC. It felt far from intuitive and took a conscious effort to to change stances, end result I couldn't do what I wanted to do even though I new how to do it. I tried watching the videos but they were only helpful to controller users, though the moves guide was helpful. I hope the developers can find something a little more intuitive for the PC player to use.

    Personally i thought that the mouse controls were smooth and fairly easy to pick up but it seams i am the minority here. I have more of a twitchy aim and when i moved the mouse to block it felt very fluid as if i was actually moving my sword so much so that at times ,on the smaller maps were you get ganged all the time, i was able to hold off three to four people for at least a little while. but as i said it seams not many people agree with me.

    I found blocking attacks was really challanging with the mouse there just seemed to be a bit more of a delay between changing stances vs what it was like on controller. Also i couldnt change key bind for heavy attack cancel to mouse button 4 or 5 which is all i have on my mouse. The default for heavy cancel, mouse wheel scroll, was really bad and would only work a quarter of the time.

    i tested the game with kbm and i was not in love with moving the mouse to change the guard, but i don't see an other way to do so,

    if you compare to controller where you just have to move your thumb (that require a little effort and had pretty fast reaction possibility) here you have to literally move your entire arm to protect your side, cause if you want to guard on left or right just by moving you wrist you risk to trigger a top guard.

    also, more especially my feeling was: it feel that the game doesn't react to get the guard you wanted to activate when it actually did;
    to fix that my point is, at the second you switch your guard to a side, the stance indicator should not only go white as it do, but also flash for maybe a microsecond with another color (yellow or orange i think since it's close to white while being the most easily seen color ) to kinda CONFIRM you did. like tic . tac . tic . tic . tic ... you got me ? and also have an actionable option that ad a song to it why not

    that being said, i learn to play DkS2 (pvp) with mouse and keyboard, it's not easy to do, everyone will say you it's inferior to controller, that you can't fix some of his downside without moding the s**t out of it.. wrong, i found how to fix it only with game's option, and to be competitive with it, i'm not the only one also.

    good luck to made kbm easy to handle, that not that bad actually, but sure can get even more love, at least it work already !!! (where it took me weeks to make DkS2 work with it, and a good month to learn to be decent with it)

    Yes, there seems to be some kind of strange delay on the mouse and keyboard actions. Sometimes it takes up to one second for the game to register a key stroke which gets me killed rather often Now if this was down to low fps or a high ping i wouldn't mention it but it mostly happens in duel mode which always runs at a solid 60fps and <100 ping(since we only have the bars and no actual digits i'm assuming that's what full green bars means). So yes, that is unacceptable. In theory changing the attack/defend angle with the mouse sounds very intuitive and quick but in its current form it's just broken and unreliable.

    Might be a better option to just have the mouse controls bound to the keys on the numpad or to other keys on the keyboard in case someone wants to have a "controller-like" experience if he or she doesn't have a controller at hand.

    PLenty of issues with mouse - namely the game refuses to leave your block where you put it unless you keep dragging the mouse to, let's say, the left. So if you want to block 2 left strikes, you have to move -> draggggggg -> reset ->move ->dragggg, which often makes the char go full moron, and for whatever reason, often changes to top stance, resulting in your death. :P

    I did do fairly amazingly well in the game (9-0. 11-2 and so on, winning 1v2/1v3 fights), but I was deliberately playing broken OP Conqueror. :P When it came to fast switchers like the orochi, I suffered greatly because of the mouse.

    The same thing happened to me when I tried playing with the keyboard/mouse. I felt disappointing after looking forward to this game for over a year. I haven't tried the controller but I'm sure it would give a better advantage.
