Ghost Recon Wildlands’ virtual version of Bolivia is going to be massive. Though it’s still unconfirmed, a YouTuber named MarcoStyle estimates Wildlands’ map to be almost three times bigger than that of Grand Theft Auto V. It also dwarves the game worlds of other Ubisoft titles like The Division and Watch Dogs.
Ghost Recon Wildlands is Huge
All-in-all, Ghost Recon Wildlands’ game world is close to 200 sq. kilometers. Though eye-popping, this figure stills falls short of Just Cause 3 – the current king in terms of size at 1000 sq. kilometers. To arrive at this conclusion, MarcoStyle simply compared an image of Wildlands’ map against all the previous gameplay footage to gain a sense of its scale. Once he determined this, he simply shifted the comparison to the maps of other open world games.
Now that the size part of the equation seems to be sorted out, the real question is how Ubisoft can fill each nook and cranny with interesting things to do. Critical and fan feedback for the last few gameplay demos have been mixed. Those who’ve gotten their hands on it say that the shooting and cover systems lack the trademark tactical feel of the Tom Clancy franchise.
“Without a cover mechanic, we all just comically ran behind walls and around buildings to avoid damage, popping out to take shots whenever there was a break in enemy fire. It felt more like a run-and-gun shooter than a tactical third-person shooter,” said Gamespot’s Tamoor Hussain during his review of the E3 demo.
Ghost Recon Wildlands is still quite a long way from release. There’s still plenty of time for Ubisoft to get it right. If they can make the gameplay as deep and expansive as their map seems to be, they should have a winner.

Not to try sound like a "negative nancy", but I always have this feeling that the ubisoft devs make a complete map, then when release gets closer, they cut out content and charge you for areas that should/were in the game from the start(eg.division). It would also explain why ubisoft only release specific infomation in small doses leading up until the games release, because if everyone knew the truth of the way ubisoft generates its DLC(removing sections of original existing content) they wouldnt be happy.
Remember Far Cry Primal, they literally copied and pasted a map with a different setting. My trust has completley vanished when it comes to ubisoft.

I'm pretty sure this is how most companies generates DLC content. They are just very clever in the way its advertised. You market a game to give the impression that the content being advertised will be available at launch when it was your intention to sell it as DLC to begin with. Is this even legal? Is this how Sony can bull sh!t their way out of any legal trouble with the tons of missing content in No Mans Sky?Originally Posted by xIMayhemIx Go to original post
Funny how the entire forum went dead after my post.Originally Posted by GiveMeTactical Go to original post
What was there to say? Still, if you're feeling ignored.
Ubisoft operates exactly the same way as every other company that produces a product and sells it. You're not comfortable paying your money out? OK that's your choice, you don't have to, that's none of my business. As much as I like to get misty-eyed and nostalgic about the days when all DLC was free, those days are mostly gone and Sony and No Man's Sky are irrelevant here anyway.
