Maybe that was just a bit too much.
It is a fact that people tend to hate on the Orochi. These are often also people that plays too aggressively against a class with faster attacks than themselves, leaving them super open. Orochi is a noob crusher extreme, and he has some things i feel he needs tuning on, but people blow him out of proportion.

I disagree. I think any hero, in the hands of a somewhat experienced player, can be a noob crusher. Whether you're a warden constantly spamming guard break/shoulder charge and light attack combo, a kensei spamming unblockable combos or a conqueror with shoulder charge and heavy attack stagger/stunlocking his opponents you will slaughter any new player. It's not like the Orochis basic class strengths magically disappear when fighting against better players, he will still have that edge that not even experience will really help you deal with. You need very good reflexes to parry his light attacks which is something you either have or you die. No other character is like that.

    Just My Thoughts

From my experience with multiplayer games, any class can be powerful in the right hands. That being said, it's unfortunate people have this impression on the Orochi since most people loves the aspect of playing a samurai and their moveset is hard to deal with for the inexperienced players. If most players played another class, I promise you someone will cite OP on that character eventually.

I honestly appreciate the guide in this thread; helps to understand their moveset better and learn how to use/counter against them. At the same time, a sticky thread like this isn't reason for people the cry foul on the OP of Orochi; sure they're a little strong but not unbearable. An announcement from the devs would have been made had that been the case, and that could happen next week or so after the closed alpha forum closes. There's a reason why a guide was made, not an announcement; dev (or officials that made this thread) feels with a little tuning the Orochi is fine as it is, and made this to help out those that struggle to efficiently fight an Orochi. I myself feel the Orochi can be tuned down a little but Orochis themselves aren't groundbreaking.

You are welcome to comment or argue against my points, but this is my view on the matter; the Orochi on its playstyle (not its strength) is fun to use, along with the other classes I've played.

Is the guaranteed hit after landing his back step atatck an intended mechanic? If he land a back step attack, (which is pretty easy to land and is guaranteed if he back step an attack of yours), he can land a light top, which gives him another guaranteed light attack. So, you set up one hit and land 3. And it's not a hard set up.

So, I ask again, was this an intended mechanic? It seems so blatantly OP.

Im guessing they didn't tune the frames in enough detail with this back step move and it ended up granting the combo.

put a 'SPARTAN HERO' in the game!

“He is a strong character, not easy to beat, you need to think like a samurai and carefully read and predict his moves. Also, you need to play more in a defensive way.

    Here are a few tips:

    - Protect your top stance! That’s where most of his attacks come from. That way it’s easier to block his side attacks
    - When he’s close to you, he will mostly do a light attack or a guard break, so be ready for that, and try to counter the guard break using X / Middle Mouse Button
    - One of his routine moves is to dodge and throw light attacks on the side. He will always attack from the side he dodges, so be careful about that
    - When you parry a light attack, it gives you time to throw a heavy one, so when he does his fast light attacks, try parry + heavy attack (M&K: to parry, press heavy attack in the moment of contact)
    - Try feinting attacks to trigger his revenge mode early (Heavy attack + B / Mouse Wheel Up or Down at the last minute), when it’s triggered, try to get away and attack when it’s over

The Orochi is not unbeatable but he’s very fast! You need to read his moves and think like a Samurai.

And remember, practice makes perfect. In the words of Miyamoto Musashi: You can only fight the way you practice!

Try these tips and let us know what you think
put a spartan hero in your game and you sell a lot more games
