Orochi needs nothing close to a buff as long as he has deflect light attack in my opinion. And even without that, fast dashes, dash attacks, charges that can be cancelled, high damage combos. To me Orochi should go the other way, fix something about him (mostly the guaranteed damage+pressure on any blocked attack)

This post is basically an admission that the Orochi is OP. End of story. Just played 3 matches back to back against 3 Orochi and the other samurai type. The 3 Orochi routinely got 1014 kills with 1-2 deaths each, which of course lead them to win as they could capture and hold spots. Limit number of Orochi per team, decrease their dodge and roll distance, as well as speed.

This is a copy-paste from the last alpha. Orochi's received significant nerfs back then, too. I think the more you learn about the game, the more manageable they become!

The problem i have agaisnt Oroichi is his automatic damage after a block, you cant do anything about it. As a Kensei it works if they block the second attack and go for the damage since Kenshins 3rd can be interuptable, but a good Orochi waits to see what the third attack will be befor going for it. And then combine it with its excelent backstep, dodge attacks and a grab automatic heavy makes the class is superior to the rest. I do not know if its OP but it have way more tools to use then the other classes.

Not a copy paste, as I wasn't in the last alpha, just my observations. Had similar issues in alpha and beta for other combat games. Then adjustments are made.

How does the parry mechanic work? I feel like I am not quite getting it. Do you trigger the lock on just as they attack, or do you shift your guard stance to where they are attacking at the last minute?

In regards of Orichi or? Lock on should always be on against the person your fighting. As Orichi you do not ahve a passive guard so you always need to direct your guard against the attack.

Now hear me out, I'm not saying he is OP per se, but 2 types of people will play this. The Pro's and the rest. I'm sure a Pro with any other character can take on any other character.
Wether it is Orochi or not. But it seems if there is an incentive to explain how to fight a character otherwise you just get smoked... well that means most people who just play the game for kicks will get their as kicked each time making him seem OP at the least.

Not really sure if I am explaining myself correctly, but what I am saying is I believe Ubi-Gaidheal that Orochi can be beaten like any other character. But on the same hand the fact there is a feeling it needs to be adressed whilst not seeing this for other characters still makes it look something is off. Again I'm new to For Honor so I can't tell from experience, but just from reading posts all I hear is Orochi, Orochi...

I asked them to make this post during another Alpha.

I was receiving a ton of messages during the Alpha asking how to deal with the Orochi so I asked the Devs if they could ask the best players in their office to share some tips with the community on how to deal with him.

This has nothing to do with the characters balance is more about the Devs answering a request from the community for some tips.

I figured people were having a problems with orochi lol. As a orochi user I was seeing weird cancels on heavy trying to confuse me lol. However, WE OROCHI STAND STRONG! YOU WILL NEVER DEFEAT US. jk lol Just wanted to say that. Honestly I even have trouble fighting orochi as a orochi. He is a difficult fight, but it is winnable. Mostly what you can do is bait out his attacks. Wait until he attacks and let him hang himself. They are normally low on stamina, so if you can break that its easily winnable.

If you are having trouble waiting with his counters, they don't do much damage. just take the first hit and see if he actually swings twice. If he swings twice, he is most likely mashing attack most of the time. the second hit of the counter is blockable, so block that and go for guard break or a weak attack to keep him on defense.

Most Orochi are searching for counters. So much that they forget that guard break can be a problem. So just keep baiting him to counter and guard break him..

Oh and one more thing.. To all you Raiders and wardens... STOP PUSHING ME OFF THE MAP!!!!
