My one big problem with the duels as they are is how often they have ledges. I know generally throwing people off of ledges/awareness of environmental dangers is important, but with some things like the guard break push it's too easy for one mistake to kill you instantly with no chance for recovery. In something like Domination this is fine it's a whole battlefield, but the duel is supposed to be a 1v1, competition of skill kind of thing. Environmental awareness and making use of your surroundings is important, but the ledges just make it too easy to take advantage of a very simple combo to win a round with no real skill involved. Those times I won thanks to it (mostly by accident) it felt unsatisfying, and those times I lost to it, even if I was likely going to lose anyway, simply felt incredibly frustrating. Duel arenas should have no ledges or at least they should only be in one or two places, so luring someone to a ledge for a push off is a real strategy that you have to work towards and not just an opportunity in almost every part of the map.

Well I hope in the released version of the game will be duels against friends.

I dont get the point why its not available in the alpha, when everything else just works fine.
As someone before me already said: If not for exp, then atleast for the fun !

Have a nice time out there !

I've seen it mentioned a few times but the issue of ledges and other such insta-kill mechanics really, really needs to be addressed in duel mode. Arguably brawl as well, though my focus has been more on duel with this alpha. The gameplay mechanics for this game are phenomenal but if there is even going to be a ranked mode, much less anything beyond that such as attempts at e-sports or the like, they need to get rid of this ****. I get it, it's cool/funny/whatever to knock someone off a wall to their death or push them down a story and then leap down and insta-gib them, but there's no skill involved.

The biggest argument I've seen against that is people saying, "You have to pay attention to the environment, know where those things are and avoid them, whatever." The problem is, no matter how aware I am of these things if my opponents only focus is to win by ring out there's a fairly decent chance he will eventually get it. On the flip side, if literally all they do is spam guard break then the game isn't even fun. All I'm doing is either dodging and getting a hit in or just simply spam lights in return and he loses. Boring. Give us a gladiator pit or something. Throw in some pillars and the like to allow clever use of throws to knock people into so classes like the raider don't feel completely left out and be done with it. I want to actually fight people, not spend all my time focusing making sure I'm not anywhere near a ledge just in case the guy I'm fighting just wants to cheese.

For an unranked duel mode? Assuming there will be a ranked mode sure, whatever. But keep that garbage out of any competitive mode, please. Ring outs don't take skill, they take luck and/or spamming. It's not fun playing against someone who's just trying to cheese ring outs, win or lose. This game has great mechanics, let us use them.

    Suggestions for VS

I think that in a group cooperative should can fight one against one or a species of tournament, another thing that is me occurs is in the mode versus to choose against that race fights in the IA.
I am sorry if I said something wrong

    Jedi Knight-esque

There was a fantastic mode in an old Jedi Knight game where it was 1v1 but more than 2 players could join and watch from a spectators view. It would be awesome for a group of friends to do this!! Pleeeeaaase make that happen. You could do it in an ol' medieval tournament way or have a circle where players fight and if they try to run the spectating players would be there to cut down the unhonourable one.

Its great... here are some suggestions

I love the duel mode, reminds me a lot of Bushido Blade back in the day. I actually felt the characters were balanced, the Orochi however is much easier to pick up than the 'hard' tag leads one to imagine which is why I think people felt it was unbalanced.

My main suggestion is the creation of a Duel Lobby or Roulette similar to those found in fighting games so that one can find the next fight faster and or compete between a group of friends while keeping track of who has the most wins. It should make for very interesting option to those who wish to play the game to show just who is the best warrior, would also help those who would like to make a competition out of it. Just a thought.

Thank you very much for allowing me to play the alpha, hope the feedback helps.

    Dueling Friends

I have loved this Alpha experience. This game has been very enjoyable thus far and I have had an absolute blast playing it. If there is just one thing I had to point out, then it would be that I couldn't duel my friends. Dueling with friends, if added, would make the game even more exceptional.

And the bragging rights. I have a friend I want to duel with, we have been talking about it since July. He's all for the vikings, while I'm for the samurai.

Those ledges were very frustrating. I faced off against someone that would just stand next to them, with the big viking class, and just wait for you. Or it would be the constant break and throw until you were tossed off.

I agree with this. I would make it "unranked" however, so that you can't just power level your characters by beating up on a friend. But for the bragging rights along it should be worth doing!

I also had a friend who wanted to practice a bit as he was getting beaten badly in some of the brawls we tried to do. But again, I wasn't able to help him because I couldn't go into a 1v1 duel with him, which was a shame.
