At least I heard that we won't have towers to unlock in WD2 (compared to the first opus' system).Originally Posted by Dieinthedark Go to original post
Now we have to see in which direction GRW go with that. It seems like it's more an intel system than a location unlock. After all if it's logic and we need to destroy cartel's radars to have air support in some regions it have sens from a game design point of vue.
It will all be about how "real" it feels, we all know that. For me the sense of a continuous story brought about by the missions as opposed to a set of distinct and separate missions that don't relate to each other is important. We know that there won't be towers and areas of the map that unlock, but also that there is some progression as we saw it in the E3 gameplay. That progression has to be subtle and supplementary to the story and not be the story as it is in some games.
Jackfrag played the game and came away thinking it was very much like GTA online.Originally Posted by Dieinthedark Go to original post
I hope your wrong also but i think you've hit the nail on the head and the game is going to turn out exactly like you have described! If it's not then over to you Ubisoft time to show the community who is worried about the game that we have nothing to fear.
We all seem to be of the same opinion here it seems. Maybe what we want, and what I posted, is too ambitious? It just seems that Ubi either is or has to play it safe. Focusing on co-op, to them, means they don't need to make a compelling single player because they want us to run with our friends anyway. And likewise, they don't need to create adept squad AI because hey, its co-op, play with real people. And as far as making a big world with multiple biomes, that going to be a minimal challenge to Ubi. They've done huge sandbox/open world games for so long they could probably throw something together in no time at all.
Overall, I'm just left wondering, what makes this game unique? Drop-in drop-out co-op has been done before. Character and weapon customization has been done. Ubi's record with online games hasn't been great in recent times (Splinter Cell Conviction, Blacklist, Siege starting off though I think its fixed now, wasn't Future Soldier bad online? I never played it). I have yet to see anything about the game that makes me think, wow, I need to play that, or wow, that's new/interesting. It feels like they've got a solid start but without the things I and others have mentioned that give it some proper depth, its going to end up being a shell of a game. Functional and playable but no real substance.
Prove me wrong Ubi, I want to believe.
Awesome opinions indeed, unfortunately for us (the 1%), we have been already told by the powers that be, and I happen to agree even if in protest, that this game will be made for the masses and casual gamers so you and I can forget about those awesome thoughts and opinions... unless of course you have to be a co-op gamer or you want to enjoy the game for what it is and not for what could have been.
