It could ave also been a huge succes w/o the Nane Tom Clancy R6 and just plain "Siege"... or whatever other marketing cute name they could have come up with.
Now, imagine UBI also making a more, close to Tom Clancy Rainbow Six game? more close to tactical as the original w/o the arcade-ish mechanics... who is to say it would not be also a success?
It could had affraid the massive casual crowd
It could had a bigger success if the marketing campaign was not canceled after what happened in Paris just before game's realease.
And devs are working to make the game more Siege than what it's now. An example they added claymores for attackers ... (Ah but you may don't know what I'm talking about ... you never played the game)
And I won't, it is an insult to my logic and common sense to magically have 200 gadgets into which I can block a house, airplane or what have you. I don't want to waste 30 minutes doing all of that so I can shoot people for 10 seconds... kinda like going to those E3 events to play an arcade-ish demo of an alleged tactical game LOL.
Also, since they don't have a Solo/Campaign then I save 60 bucks... their lost is my gain.
But you are right, it could have caused major impact on the casual crowd... or it could have made them grow a pair, learn to game and have a blast... even better than the blast they have now. I could be wrong of course since making watered down games is easier and it has a quicker "Glorified" effect. They get their trophie right there and then.
It's like I said since a long time now, they have been no downgrade for the 2015 and 2016 E3 trailers, and I already stated on the playable E3 build.
But as i'm a Ubisoft moderator and I"ve been part of the group that went in Paris I'm called liar because for some paranoid people I can't be partial
But when you know that some people scream downgrade after have seen a CGI trailer well you don't know to think![]()
Honestly my biggest fear is getting the old Ubisoft formula again, you know the revealing map towers, the random meaningless loot, a large but boring/uninspired world etc etc. Where has innovation gone? For the life of me, I've never wanted to believe in a game as much as Wildlands but I just can't. Its going to end up only being as tactical as you make it, ie, not required. I imagine its going to be a military themed GTA online.
Now, I'm hoping Ubi proves me wrong. Show me civilians with in game jobs and normal lives. Show me how I can kill a civilian and frame the cartel turning a village against the druglords. Show me how I can cause uprisings with the civilians through unscripted missions, and without some meter showing me what different factions think of me. Show me gameplay command an adept AI squad. Its practically to the point of show me anything other than you have already.
