    environmentally destructible areas

Someone posted on here the idea of adding destructible props to the maps such as crates, barrels, tables, chairs, etc. I like the idea of having destructible props around the map. I also think another implantation that would be awesome are environmentally destructive areas; such as a map with a large and heavily used bridge that is the main pathway so it is usually populated until it collapses during the match when struck by a catapult from outside the fortress. The catapult could strike at any time during the match, sometimes more towards the end other times right around the beginning, or in the middle, so that players DON'T get used to WHEN it collapses and just avoid being on it at that time. Anyone on the bridge when it falls is dead! Or a map with a large wall that gets toppled by a catapult as well and anyone around it gets injured or killed and the toppling of the wall provides a shortcut for both sides. Maybe even a map in which a blizzard picks up halfway through the match for 60 or more seconds and anyone in the more outdoors area when this is happening will slowly take freeze damage overtime, forcing most players to go indoors halving the size of the map and creating more deadly close quarters encounters against other players who are also taking refuge from blizzard hypothermia. This one's my favorite one of all; a map with a volcano which erupts halfway through the match cutting off many previous paths and creating lots of areas to environmentally push your opponent into their fiery death! If Ubisoft went through with this, along with a faction vs faction and grunt survival gamemode it would be not only a game changer, but would seal the deal on many sales. Listen up Ubi!

I know this would be a huge change from what we already know about For Honor, but who wouldn't want this? It would look amazing, keep the game feeling fresh plus it's still in Alpha and by the looks of it still has a long way to go, so why not break boundaries and reach for the stars when there's still so much time left for development?

edit: Sorry for the original redundant topic title and typos, very tired not much sleep when written.

You're right on the "who wouldn't want this?" front. But the main issue people have with this is not the idea of it, it's the fact that enabling physics and interactive objects in the environment would use a lot of processing power that may be necessary to run the rest of the game as smoothly as possible (other players with complex animation systems, the minions, feat graphics, etc.). As this is being billed as a pretty competitive game with e-sport potential, I don't think this sort of idea would be able to reliably work with the rest of the game without bogging it down in one way or another (processing power/taking development time away from other important aspects in order to create and optimize the necessary assets/physics, etc.).

However, large-scale map-changing things like lowering bridges or destroying something large to act as a barrier would be totally possible, and since they most likely wouldn't be plentiful or fully physics-enabled at all times, they could be totally doable. I'd be all for that.

I see you on the processing power but it's 2016 and from what I've seen, if developers want to put the time into making something work it will. Although the fact it's not e-sport friendly I can totally agree with. But really, if it came down to that they would just not play on maps that have these features, or disable them for those matches which is easily doable. Also this whole e-sport potential thing is really ruining the game in my eyes, mixing of factions on every gamemode and larger health pools? Really lame. There should be a ranked playlist and unranked, and of course a Faction vs Faction gamemode would only be unranked. Not that hard to implement, and really cool for immersion. I have a feeling I shouldn't get my hopes up too high for this game unfortunately, I hope to see tremendous differences in the beta and final version.

I get you that "it's 2016", but to me it being 2016 means the Ubisoft corporate guys are probably pushing reaaaally hard to get the game to have SUPER GOOD GRAFFICKS so all the kiddies are really pleased, so they're probably going to place all the graphics and effects over other things that you can use processing for. I would like destructible stuff but I think it's too far from the ethos of a triple A game like this. The mixing of factions is necessary for people to play all gameplay styles they want without waiting in ridiculous queues because there's too many Orochi or something. And also splitting of a player base that may or may not be niche.

This is the first game of its kind and I totally understand if they have to get their bearings with it and make sure it's a good game that people actually want to play before they branch out and really specialize, or other games take on this control scheme with a more faction-oriented style of game. And if that means comfort and being able to select any class you wish, then that's totally fine by me. Better to have more choice and don't want it than have not enough choice and don't want it, you know?
