sure shut the Nvidia game works settings OFF

see this post on the official Nvida forums https://forums.geforce.com/default/t...-in-far-cry-4/

that stuff has been busted for over a year in the DRIVERS from Nvidia

here are my settings in case it helps

my in Game settings are Custom
    resolution 1920 X 1080
    vsync - on

    Quality settings
motion blur off - not a fan of it ..
    Textures - Ultra
    Shadows - High
    Post FX -Ultra
    Geometry - Very High
    Vegetation- Ultra
    Environment - High
    Water - Ultra
    Ambient Occusion setting is SSBC
    Antialising settings is SMAA

God rays - off- not a fan of how it looks (can make the game unstable)
    Fur - on
    Trees relief -on

    in Advanced settings
    Triple buffering - off
    Vsync mode - Normal

in Nvidia control panel, i made these changes
    Anisotropic Filtering = 16 X
Max Pre Rendered Frames = 1
Set Power Management Mode = Adaptive

game looks fine to me and plays stutter free on my system with zero crashes

i only have an asus Strix factory overclocked GTX 960 so .........YES .... you can go a bit higher .. but Nvidia Godrays will crash even Titan X cards in SLI as well as 980 ti cards so i'm sure its busted for pascal too

Nvidia fur also can be problematic so don't use the Nvidia version

see this thred on these forums on the problems with the Nvidia gameworks too ..its also from last year .. Nvidia just ignores it ..its a driver problem

    http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...n-FC4-crashes?

if i use older drivers like 347.52 .. i can use some game works features ..anything past those is borked

and those old drivers do not support pascal 10 series Nvidia cards or the titan X or the GTX 980 ti

set all your settings to just ULTRA ...keep the Nvidia gameworks crap off and see if it runs stable

    i'll bet it does ...

Thank you. I deactivated the highest Nvidia Graphics and now it works fine.
But i must say i am really disappointed in Ubisoft and Nvidia.
The Game is out for 2 Years and still Bugs in the Game. That is what i call a bad Support.

Also the Game Looks not so good like in the highest Nvidia Settings.
I decide not to buy Farcry Primal because of that big Problems of the Game.

    Sorry Ubisoft !

the problem is Nvidia .. not the game

they refused to fix their own gameworks problems

Nvidia gameworks is done via distributed .dll files .. look it up

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_GameWorks

Nvidia GameWorks is a middleware software suite developed by Nvidia [1] The Visual FX, PhysX and Optix SDKs provide a wide range of enhancements pre-optimised for Nvidia GPUs. GameWorks is distributed in the form of compiled DLLs rather than traditional source code.

so if nvidia breaks things in the drivers .. the Developer has no way to fix it ...

so really ya cant blame Ubisoft ..its all on Nvidia

also Primal has zero gameworks options ..so yea that game may run better for you .. runs fine here

even on my Dell dimension e 520 system (the oldest one i have with a quad core CPU ) with only a AMD HD 5770 1 gig vid card and 6 gig of ram an win 7 Ultimate 64 bit

the Nvidia gameworks = the problem with your crashes ..Primal has none of that BS ..and i understand why

Nvidia busted fc 4 in the drivers and moved onto newer games ..its all about $ for Nvidia ....and selling the latest cards
