I recently bought Far Cry 4. When I tried to start up the game, It ends up at black-screen then after a few seconds, windows will display a message that it has stopped working.. Any solution to get rid of this? I tried googling any solutions but I couldn't find any.![]()
I am having the Exact Same issue. Is there a Safe mode switch or something to at least get it started?Originally Posted by fadeDota Go to original post
do you meet the far cry 4 system requirements
dual core CPU's are not supported ..yes the game requires a quad core CPU
you also need a decent video card Intel HD video chips are not supported
Far Cry 4 Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM
OS: Windows® 7 (SP1) / Windows® 8 / Windows® 8.1 / (64-bit only)
Processor: 2.6 GHz Intel® Core™ i5-750 or 3.2 GHz AMD Phenom™ II X4 955 <---*note* both are Quad core CPU's
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 or AMD Radeon HD5850 (1 GB VRAM)
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 30 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX-compatible
Additional Notes: Windows-compatible keyboard, mouse, optional controller.
RECOMMENDED:
OS: Windows® 7 (SP1) / Windows® 8 / Windows® 8.1 / (64-bit only)
Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel® Core™ i5-2400S or 4.0 GHz AMD FX-8350 or better
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 or AMD Radeon R9 290X or better (2 GB VRAM)
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 30 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX-compatible
Additional Notes: Supported video cards at the time of release: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 or better, GeForce GTX 700 series; AMD Radeon HD5850 or better, Radeon R9 series.
Note: Laptop versions of these cards may work but are NOT officially supported.
as to video cards
GT series video cards as well as Intel video chipsets and some AMD chips do not provide enough memory bandwidth or low pixel and vertex shader counts that will not allow the game to load properly , Direct X 10 video cards do not even support Direct X 11 shader model 5.0
many Nvidia GT series cards as well as some low end AMD products and all Intel chipsets use slower older DDR3 memory (intel ones use your shared System memory)
not dedicated GDDR5 video memory, this cuts down on the amount of memory bandwidth the game has to load and draw the textures , end result will = black screen
this is why it says in the minimum system requirements Note: Laptop versions of these cards may work but are NOT officially supported.
10. BACKROUND APPLICATIONS may also cause the game to not launch properly and you may need Exit out of them, or reconfigure them to work properly with Far Cry 4 known apps that can cause this are

Please ALSO see this Page where it mentions Backround Applications in section 4 and how you can try to see if one you have running is possibly causeing your issiue with the game NOT starting or hanging on launch
