It's literally just SJW pandering that there are females at all in this game. Two of the three factions did not have enough female warriors to warrant their appearance at all, and even vikings didn't have a fraction of the female warriors they had IRL. The fact that I *have* to play a female peacekeeper/valk/nobushi when they simply didn't exist in real life is absolutely ridiculous.

Were male peacekeepers and valkyries a thing in real life?

Is this game based on a real life period where there was a three-way war between Vikings, Knights, and Samurai?

Are you mixing up "based on" and "influenced by"?

It isn't SJW pandering to have strong female characters in your fictional universe.

I would not have bought the game if I knew I had to play as a lady.

I'm sick of hearing these idiots claiming that %0.0005 of this type of warrior were female therefor it makes sense to make it locked to female. Experts fresh off the history channels latest "documentary" sensationalizing written third hand reports from 500 years ago.

I bought the game without much research seeing this awesome cover art:

Where are the women? Its just male warriors as %99.9 of history was. I have no issue with their being female warriors. But don't take the male ones away. Why do you think they didn't put them on the cover!

%100 this is some Gen Y satisfy the whiners BS. Next they will add a back story about how they made the same salary as the male warriors because thats fair and correct and they weren't paid based on usefulness or skill XD.

It's not going to hurt or impede anyone's individual gameplay experience to have more personalization for their favorite characters..

If you read a book and the main character isn't the gender you like, do you write the author asking him to print a copy reversing the character's gender for you to read? Because you like to put yourself in the main character's position to immerse yourself in the book?

    No, you don't.
No, I just don't buy the ****ing book.

If you bought a book that had a huge male warrior on the cover, would you be surprised, pissed, and confused as to why the main character was a woman.

This. Honestly, it's not 'pandering' to give people the option to play as whatever gender they indentify with or prefer the look of.

It'd be either laziness or pandering to only have male characters, in order to save the feelings of sensitive neckbeards like the poster you were responding to, who throw their toys out the pram as soon as they perceive that they're not the dominant group and voice in any theatre of discussion, for once in the entitled ****ing cakewalks they call their lives.

I bet the user you responded to takes issue with having options for skin colour too.
