I care about my individual case, and if I can play the by me chosen character as I would enjoy it most. However I am too much of a purist to want to see a male Valkyrie, ever. So no, not "right?" really. : o)

As I am not suffering rom the gender thing in my favourite character(s), I abstain from voting. both gender lock and no gender lock have their logic to it.

Almost every game nowadays has features which I do not like, and If my enjoyment of a game would suffer from those features (or restrictions), I would not protest but I would not buy.

If the issue was that having male Valkyrias is odd just have the male valkyrias called Einherjar instead. I know they are not the same thing but it would allow people to play male "valkyrias" if they wanted to. I strongly disagree to gender lock. It will probably meen 3 classes will be less played for me then the others since I will have less customization on them.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against no locks (except for the given example and the like, I have no issue with your solution either!), but as my favourite character(s) do not seem to suffer, I also have nothing against locks. I have only 1 or 2 classes which I will most likely play, the other 10 have not yet managed to "grab me". In short, would I have suffered I would have cared, as I do not suffer and although understand the issue, I have no issue with the lock. That is being selfish, I know, but it also makes any opinion vote of mine obsolete.

Do I wish for other players to get the most out of the game for them, absolutely.

I'm happy with the options we got and a few heroes not having gender options doesn't bother me, and I think that's because I'm not the type of person who sees myself as the character, or at least I don't need to. Knowing that I'm never going to be convinced this is worth fighting over. I'd 100% rather have patches, maps, modes, other cosmetics, server updates, or really anything else before going back and adding gender options to a few heroes. I just think gameplay is king for me and I've got all the customization options I need so I'd rather see the finite dev time spent on something else. Some people naturally will disagree, but that's where I stand on the issue.
Well, I'm not going to get on someone's case for putting gameplay above everything else, especially when it comes to this game in particular. They could add customization options until they are blue in the face, but if the game played like Dynasty Warriors or Ryse, no one would give a damn, lol. So yeah, I am cool with people who are more concerned about other aspects of the game besides customization options.

However, I will probably continue to fight for this even if doesn't really lead anywhere. It's funny, because I already have my main (male Kensei) so I am pretty much set, but I am still ticked off with how they seemingly pulled a 180 with these last six classes. There is a thread on NeoGAF right now discussing a quote that Jason Vandenberghe had from an interview speaking about customization. Here is the quote:

"This game is about you. And so what kind of warrior are you, right? You can change the skin color of your Vikings, too. You want to have a black Viking? Knock yourself out," VandenBerghe told GameSpot. "It's who are you. I want you to be able to be in that game. I play the female warden. That's my favorite character, because she's great. And it's always been, from day one, it's been the core value of the team, and we've been doing this for a while."

So what changed with the last remaining six classes? Has to be lack of time, right? So couldn't they put a small group of people together to slowly work on the six classes post-release to get them as fleshed out as the first six classes? Meanwhile, they could have the bulk of the team work on new content (classes, modes, maps, etc).

Obviously, I am not a dev, so I can't say how much time or manpower it would take, but I can only imagine that creating a male/female variant of an existing class wouldn't take as much time as creating an all new class from scratch. Especially because you wouldn't have to worry about how a new class could throw off the balance of the current meta.

But yeah, hopefully I am not coming off as a raving loon, lol. I was just a bit surprised at the sudden gender restrictions of the new classes when it flies in the face of everything they said about customization previously.

I voted yes, but its not that big of a deal. There are other things that matter more. Like more game modes. I think the main reason for some classes to be gender locked is the shugoki. Being such a hard character to make as a female, they probably made a 50/50 ratio of male and female for the rest of the factions. They probably didn't know how to make a female shugoki. That is unless u wanna play a butch samurai lady that likes other ladies XD. They are also possibly focusing too much on the core game and other aspects that are much more important.

I agree that it is not the biggest deal in the world, but I would still love to have full male and female options for all the current classes, not to mention any future classes that we may get. However, I don't agree that it would be hard to come up with a female Shugoki. I don't see why you couldn't have a large female Samurai with a club and I have no idea what bearing that would have on whether she liked other women or not....lol. (I know you were joking, heh)

But yeah, I still think it wouldn't be too difficult to design a female version of a Shugoki. I have faith that their art team could come up with something. But I seriously think that they had to focus on other things, as you said. It's too much of a coincidence that the first six classes all had full gender options while the latest six classes only offer a single gender option. They must have made a choice to just focus on one gender for the remaining classes because the release date was getting closer and they felt like they didn't have the time to invest in two genders for each class.

So yeah, I think it's more feasible that they were running out of time rather than they couldn't figure out how to make a male or female version of any particular class. But once again, I don't know for certain so I am just making assumptions. Could be wrong.

Lol I suppose your right. We do after all have zarya in overwatch. Overall I do wish it was possible for them to work on all classes to be both genders and at the same time be able to focus on the core game and perhaps more game modes. But that may be asking for too much XD. Too bad we can't have the perfect game.
