Yes, I do
No, I don't
I don't care
I say equal customization options for all characters to make them all feel just as finished and worked on! Accuracy is not important because it's already out the window, and just changing the body shape a tiny bit is all that is required! If it's a matter of time I hope that will be added afterwards.
Not the most important thing in the world but that's my suggestion, so if you have the time developers, please do it!
Cheers!![]()
I voted yes, because of course I would prefer if all heroes could be gender-flipped. Overall, though, it's not that big of a deal to me.
I think it's incredibly strange that the Warlord can't be a female, considering the Conqueror can, and I also find it an odd choice to lock the Peacekeeper, since who wouldn't want a male acrobat flipping around and stabbing people. You could maybe make a case for the Shugoki, since they are so freaking big, but I also like the image of a female sumo wrestler in armour with a giant club.
I said elsewhere that I thought the hybrids would be literal characters from the campaign, so it's easy to justify the decision with them. If that's not the case, though, I'd prefer the option to gender-flip them as well.
I've been noticing people are a fairly upset about this, I guess I never see myself as the character or don't mind the gender swap if I do, but I think some gender locked is fine. Mass Effect had locked classes IIRC and it never really mattered, the devs had some design look in mind they want the character or the combat style to look a certain way I'm okay with that.
It does matter, it was said by the devs in E3 2015, if they werent sure of doing it they shouldn't have said so, that is how you lose trust from the players, a lot of people do care about the genre of their character, I do, it adds some immersion for me, and It was said that you could pick gender for every class, it is NOT ok for just half of the classes to have gender options.
I plan on main Warlord, which luckly for me is male, but I really like the style of the Nobushi (the mask style and the clothes), but I am not going to play the character that much if I can't choose the gender.
So why make it optional for some and not others?Originally Posted by AvarusTyrannus Go to original post
Why not make the Raider male, the Orochi female, give them proper characterisation, with voices and personalities, and not make them the faceless husks we as players are supposed to be embodying?
The whole initial pitch was to have you step into the shoes of a warrior, wear their skin (to be a bit morbid), and fight as they fight. I can get that sensation no matter the gender, but for others that is part of their transformation (to be slightly grandiose), it's part of them immersing themselves in the world.
The only thing I really want to know if how much time it would take them to make all of the classes be able to have both genders. I'm almost entirely sure that the reason they would lock it is because they're coming down to the wire and need to work on core gameplay, UI, and other extremely important things. They don't have time to get all of the extra animations and things they would need for another gender. You probably wouldn't want your male Valkyrie to have a female's animations, it would most likely come out strange and like something is off. Plus with a different model there might be clipping issues or other things, and we know that the animation system for these characters is VERY in-depth and complicated. I believe that is the reason they have done this, and I don't believe they should take people off of other important core parts of the game's development just for us to have a little more customization. I do want both genders for all, absolutely. But I understand if they just don't have time for this when there may be other things demanding attention and work-time. Unless I'm completely wrong about the amount of effort required for that, I'm no developer, but I don't think 90% of anyone else asking for all genders for all classes is either.
Yes, but they were aware of the system limitations for a long time, it is not like they just developed this year the animations system they are using to develop the game, it was already a thing in E3 2015 and they should have information about how much time it takes to do those things, and the speculation was already 4 classes for every faction in E3 2015 so there is no excuse to say that they were going to give us free choice of gender for every class when they knew the time and resources limitations that their animation system requieres.Originally Posted by FunkyChuck Go to original post
If they knew it was going to be a close or unsure call, they shouldn't have say anything about gender choice in E3 2015, it is that simple, it is their mistake, I understand that limitations like that could happen in development, but that is why you don't release information you are not sure about to the public, and a publisher as big as Ubisoft should know to handle that type of information.
Again, there is no excuse.
It is their mistake, and they shouldn't have made it seem like all classes would be able to swap genders. But I'm just saying for all the people that right now still want them to do this, that at this point this deep in it may be unrealistic and I wouldn't want them scrambling to take care of this and weaken other important aspects of the game. Should they have specified that it wouldn't be for all classes if they knew that all along? Yes. But I don't think at this point that we should get all over them and insist they fix this when there's probably more important things to be done. It sucks, and it's a bad mark against the PR. But hey, they've been keeping a pretty tight lip up until now and haven't made many grievous feature marketing mistakes besides this one, and I'm really grateful for that. Many other games have devs that spout many more lies and create more problems than this.
