How important is Aesthetic Customization to all of you?

Just a straw poll I made to learn about the community. Sorry about the poor quality of this post and poll, this is my first time on the forums, I look forwards to meeting and talking with you all! Personally I love aesthetic customization and it can make or break a game for me sometimes. But hey that's just me. Thank you everyone for your opinions!

I love it. I'm currently playing a bunch of Uncharted 4 multiplayer. Don't even like it that much, just want to unlock hats and stuff. xD

Apparently I'm the one guy where aesthetics isn't a main selling point, still if it's deep enough I'll probably still be spending quite a bit of time either looking up what items I want or sitting at the character creator trying to decide what looks good.

Nope, this is my opinion as well.

Since Uncharted was mentioned further up, I've actually really been into the multiplayer there since Uncharted 2, which had no customisation whatsoever, and I played that to death; but once they did add a customisation system in U3, I was constantly trying to make Sully look the best I possibly could. It's the same in U4. Wouldn't necessarily miss it were it not there to begin with, but since it's there I'll spend more time than I probably should switching sunglasses on characters.

It'll be the same in For Honor. Wouldn't mind all stock characters, but since they're giving us options, I'll want my Vikings to be stylish.

It's my favorite part of videogames..it means atleast 50% of the experience to me.from asherons call days to eso...to wwe2k16(guilty pleasure)I take hours perfecting a look.Looking unique makes me feel closer to the realm instead of a preset look.it's like if I really was this warrior/character...this is what I would look like.I want to express my self...tweak masks and face paint to look demon like or to look more intimidating...I don't want to look like anybody else...individuality and endless creation will give unlimited replay value.and I agree customization can make or break a game for me. for instance the game play in samurai warriors 4 is cheap and redundant but their custom character and armor customization system was deep enough it kept me playing.

    Dammit. Long post got deleted.

    In short:
I think bomberman 64 is a good measuring stick to say how I feel about character customization on an aesthetic level.
I was content always being player 2 (little brother, reporting in) and always being the black bomber . Over time I learned you could plug your controller into another port to be blue or red as well. Cool!
Over more time I learned you could also get cards in single player to unlock body parts you could customize into your character for multiplayer as well. Cool!
Over more time, it came full circle and I didn't really care that much and almost immediately went back to being the black bomber all the time because it didn't matter or interest me enough.
From this I would say that I love being able to customize everything I can about a character. Its lots of fun . A great example for me would be Phantasy Star Online 2. Looooaaaaads of depth there. A bad example for me would be xenoblade chronicles x or the earlier bomberman example. These felt like every character for the most part ended up looking the same except for color changes and a few bland things.

Something something something this part got deleted something if you can name an eastern game with character customization THAT INCLUDES a proper beard I'll give you mad props :P.

It's not a selling point for me, but it can drastically improve a game.

Take Halo: Reach for example. It had some flaws, but possibly the best customization in the Halo series.

Speaking of which. Has it been confirmed that weapons and armor customization will be aesthetic only? I hope so.

There was a german preview on Gamestar.de just this week:

    http://www.gamestar.de/spiele/for-ho...4,3301497.html

For non-english speakers there's one point in the bullet list where they talk about customization, gear and loot.

They say that you can customize your warrior with loot and gear you get after each battle. The gear will affect your stats as well, but there's always an upside and a downside grouped together.
Their example is: You can increase the damage of your axe, but in return your attack speed is lowered.
