Yes!
Nope.
Don't really care.
On the other hand, getting loot is already ridiculously easy in all sorts of ways (as some have pointed out here, farming the 4 Horsemen in the Dragon's Nest incursion is 4 drops every...what, 5-7 minutes?). I'm not sure any advantages gained will be that significant.Originally Posted by gun94mach Go to original post
The poll had already closed when I found this thread, but I want to submit my vote for "yes." It's ridiculous that gangs of four gang up on solo players on there that don't even have loot. It's practically impossible to solo if you just want to complete the missions. As an alternative, a "solo only" DZ (in addition to a group DZ) would at least give people a chance. The way it is now is too unbalanced. At the very least, allow us to more easily switch to a new DZ instance. Or give solo players an AI companion at least. At level 30, it doesn't even matter what time of the day it is, every time I check there are rogues on.
My solution would be to have the option to engage in PVP prior to entering the dark zone. Like a selectable/deselectable check box that opens your character up to both give and take damage to other players that also select this PVP option. So if you have this enabled and you come up to another player that has it disabled you won't be able to damage one another. If your rogue the players on the server that have this option disabled can't kill you and are of no threat. This option could only be changed in the checkpoint and changing it would destroy any items you were carrying and phase you to a new server (this is vital since people would find 100 ways to exploit this option for an advantage). Perhaps you make it an option that can only be changed once per day or apply a lengthy timer before the change goes into effect.
There would have to be some sort of way for the PVP players to discern between threatening and nonthreatening players. Perhaps no name would appear above the farming players and/or they could glow a green color. From the farming players perspective there would be no need for discerning PVPers since they would be harmless to them regardless.
There would have to be separate supply drops for each. Perhaps as an incentive for playing with the PVP option enabled there would be more frequent supply drops for the PVP players. Or perhaps there are two supply drops per zone, one designated for PVP and one for PVE. The PVP supply drop could reward three items like the season pass supply drop does.
You could also have a new kind of supply drop for PVP players called something like 'the megadrop' that drops in one random location on the map. It would notify all PVP players that it was incoming and designate where on the map it was going to be and have a lengthy timer as to allow everyone across the map adequate time to get there. There would be no adds protecting it and it would take a serious bit of time to open... perhaps 20/30 seconds. It should have a ridiculous amount of loot, like six 268/229 items. The DZ it randomly drops in shouldn't effect the gear score. Make it max no matter what. Perhaps you apply a modifier that increases the amount of items you can loot from it based on your squads active kills while within its radius. The rewards should be the absolute best the dark zone has to offer... make it worth fighting for. It also should never expire until its claimed and a new one should never drop until a certain amount of time has passed after the previous one has been collected. This would draw the PVPers to one location and make for some epic battles.
I've got other solid suggestions but I'm not trying to write a book here. You got the gist of it Massive. Read it, love it and make it happen.
They didn't say anything on twitch last week? Usually they address these things on twitch, usually they don't reply to anything on the forums.
Kind of agree, there are better solutions though i.e like adding more powerful AI in the PvE version.Originally Posted by Zaalogg Go to original post
Though the people that enjoy PvE will see this as a personal attack, trying to take people/sheep away from them. From my point of view it probably would bring people out of the PvE, because the PvE is terrible in this game.
While I agree with adjusted drop rates, I can't see how they could do it with the way their tiered loot system is. For example in Diablo you would have higher difficulty drops loot at a rate of say 1.15%^ for each difficulty which works because loot isn't from bosses it's RNG'd.
Because massive have gone with boss only drops and this silly tiered loot they can't just change the drop rate, they'd have to re-work the drops or drop lower levels. Which IS the whole ****ing problem with their game right now. No way in hell is someone going to be farming lvl 34 NPC's for some 182/204 drops.
I do look forward to hearing an announcement that makes me want to play the game - but until then or the next dlc forums is end game as far as i'm concerned.
I didn't knew they talked about that stuff on twitch, the forums would be better, but whatever, the important is to adress it somwhere and we didn't see any of it.Originally Posted by troyshaun Go to original post
I was reading an article last month that nailed this subject:
"The surface problems of the Dark Zone are easy to identify. Simply put, in an RPG about gaining XP, currency and loot, it is not going to be enjoyable to play an activity where you can actually lose XP, currency and loot. Yes, the penalties have been reduced over time, but this is still a mode where you can actively make zero progress in a play session, or even lose progress if you have a bad day or run into the “wrong crowd” through no fault of your own."

And the robbery (AKA ******bagness) is rewarded. I remember when they anounced the "cut the rope" thing, it was hard enough to wait for the chopper to arrive, now it gives more time to then and a higher chance of being rewarded for it, not to mention the ones in the entrance points that just kill you for some cash.Originally Posted by troyshaun Go to original post
Also not to mention the people, who only doing this to be jerks and ruin others fun. Like I started play the game recently and still early in game so went with the first level bracket DZ to look around. Ofcourse I meet only one player with one level higher but with much better gear and he was a bully. I had nothing, no loot, no DZ funds, he still killed me 3 times in a row. I'd punch anyone in the face who keep telling this is how it should be. No, its not and its not fun at all.Originally Posted by ThiagoPDantas Go to original post
