I get it. Pulse needed a buff. Maybe not a buff, but definitely something to make him an option over the other operators. However, since release, I have never been killed by Pulse as much as I have the last two days. Its been shotguns through the wall. No chance at anything. Just a bit ago we were playing in the Clubhouse and I went to breach the bottom floor through the bar. As I'm laying the charge, Pulse with a shotgun. There is no counter to that play. Again, I get it. There's no sweet spot for the character but it how do you stop that?
That requires that I choose Thatcher or IQ and in this instance I was Thermite. I had droned in to make sure my current position was clear. I can't search the entire map for just Pulse. All other situations are plausible but again, I was breaching my floor/his ceiling. He hears my footsteps way better than I hear his. A quick Pulse check and blam blam. I'm down. Again, I get it. A useless character before is now appealing but just like Blackbeard, I think it was a good idea that took a left turn somewhere.
Difference is that Blackbeard was never a good idea, Blackbeard offers a hard counter to the main play style of this game, it would be like offering a Runningback some sort of shield that protects him from frontal tackles in Madden.Originally Posted by Icon 006 Go to original post
Pulse is a good idea and I think this is the buff he needed, the scanner was simply too restrictive in it's view, and unless an enemy was standing perfectly still for you you often couldn't track them. Now Pulse is a viable option, and the time will have to begin on learning how to counter another viable defender.
Pulse was fine, he was never meant to have enough utility to get free kills through walls, or know exact positioning of targets. His gadget was just good enough to see someone and call it out to your teammates which is more than enough power. Now he's a bit too powerful. Ubi needs to learn that altering a character so drastically changes the entire strategy of the game, and it's been happening too frequently. There are other stats to alter. Give him one more armor, that will keep him alive a bit longer when roaming.
Whenever there is a patch their justification is that no one is using them. Well is it because he's too weak, or that the new characters are too good. there needs to be more utility characters instead of ones that are really for sheer killing power such as blackbeard, frost, and buck. Valk is a great addition, there could've been so many other better ideas like someone who nullifies sound, a hacker that can hack the camera system.
same here , pulse was already a wallhack but had some dificulty to use which kind of balanced it, now its just a wallhack as good as the ones you can buy online.
and although i know his gadget makes a loud beeping noise i never hear it even when he is behind a window just waiting to shot me on the rappel, should be way louder.
U cant say theres no counter when IQ is the counter. Learn to play as her and u can get pulse every time. Another good counter is to have a buddy system going where 1 is covering you at all times.Originally Posted by Icon 006 Go to original post
I like that his gadget is now useable - but I've seen a test on youtube where he can detect your heart 10 metres away!
I always thought it was just a couple of metres he could detect but I didn't use him much till this buff, where he's now a must pick and the sole attention of the attacking team until he's down.
I think his device has too much distance. I never played pulse and still wont. I don't get how smoke can have an acog on the machine pistol but you cant have one on a UMP45? With my old eyes , if I cant put an acog on the ops weapon I will not use him/her. The gadgets are a secondary concern . For example I mainly use IQ and never use her device, will not use valkery either. Again not sure why her gun cant have an acog. Wen it comes to pulse its really no different then them getting a callout or using cameras properly. In the end you just have to shoot him first and mostest/bestest
