Why a modifier? For those few jackholes that actually go into the DZ? Got a friends list of roughly 75 players & they all stipulate: "WE will never enter that POS DZ until it's fixed & drop rates actually give something worth while"
As it stands now, you can get the same drops in LZ to an extent & you get to KEEP them w/o worry about some "jerk" taking them away because he/she plays to much & is overpowered compared to you. Also, don't lose anything when you die either like the DZ.
PvE needs a seriousl revamp & either the RNGsus rates made better, or the amount of drops increases 100 fold...
Ok, since this new pvp damage modifier was applied, PvP is a lot better now, less time required to kill players, that's cool... BUT now they need to give some incentive to players to enter to the Dark Zone... Currently with NO items that can be useful and be bought in the DZ are poor to non existant... The rewarding to be spending time in the DZ need to be more rewarded IMO, currently we have 0 stuffs in which we could spend our dark zone funds, 0 advantage of being lvl 99 in DZ, no incentives to players to get into the DZ apart of just pvping which i think is hurting because more and more players are just not going to get into the DZ.... At the end there will be no players in DZ and also those player who enjoy just pvp will not be able to do it and then will leave the game...
That was the very thing that drove so many players away in the first place. This game is an RPG and as such the population that has any interest at all in PVP is incredibly small. and it the fact that players felt pushed into the dark zone and forced into PVP in order to progress in PVE that drove so many players away from the game.Originally Posted by Mango.KS Go to original post
The only real way you're going to encourage players into the dark zone at all is to stop forcing them into PVP encounters. the fact the darkzone has been the only viable place to get gear for so long is a big reason so many players have given up. because they will not take part in PVP no matter how good the rewards are they will simply quit if they can't get those same rewards from PVE
this is why there have been so many threads and requests for a PVE only dark zone. because players simply will not be forced to PVP....
The problem isn't so much that there is PVP in the DZ. the problem for many is that the game practically forces you to take part in it which goes against everything the devs said during development. "PVP is enabled in the DZ but not encouraged" we don't want to make decisions for the player"
.
RE: DZ...
One of two things has to happen if the DZ is to survive and therefore, the rest of The Division:
1) PVE only instances of the DZ (On/Off flag for PVP, PVE)
2) No loss of XP on death.
Just one of these two... and possibly both... Changes would help alleviate a lot of the antagonism many PVE players have for the DZ because when it comes down to it, a lot of gamers don't want to waste TIME in the DZ above all else. The way it is set up, now... Players can leave the DZ with less than they entered with as far as DZ Rank (XP) goes. Nobody wants to play a game where they can lose progress a.k.a. WASTE TIME doing something they don't enjoy, already. This is backwards game design and why the DZ failed for over 90% of the player base.
Implement one, or both of these two changes and I guarantee more PVE players would enter the DZ than they do, now. Myself, included...
I totally get that and i agree 100%... but i am not saying make DZ only viable way to get item progress... in current state of the game you can get item progression a lot of places, Underground for example, is not that hard if you just disable some of the most annoying directives, and still you have chance to get weapons, some gear sets (i know, i know... mostly Firecrest and BLIND but still gives you small chance to get different gear sets, myself i have gotten a complete Reclaimer Set 268 doing Heroic UG)... What i am saying is like they did with weapon recalibrations, they made us to use Phoenix Credits, now they could make us use DZ funds to get alternative ways to get the same loots, not better or exclusives, just something equal. Currently DZ has none of those except for random 1 weapon and 1 armor 229...Originally Posted by CalvyB Go to original post
I like the 2nd suggestion. To add to that idea... just lose XP if you go rogue and die...Originally Posted by R1_DMG_LLC Go to original post
My experience with player that "enjoy PVP":Originally Posted by Mango.KS Go to original post
1st case, They really do enjoy true PVP, with some balance, I played in 1.0 & 1.1 with them, all thoses friend left the game.
2nd case, I found some other folks to play with for 1.2, it was the funniest moments I had, we were turning rogue on a random guy, and gave him a chance to survive, it was run or die, then it was true PVP, thoses who want to fight comming at us, thoses who doesn't wanted to fight just had to keep some distance. If you shoot at us, assume the consequences, if you don't and just leave, then enjoy your farm.
Unfortunately those friend also quit for good, du to game broken mechanics, huge gap between us and random player trying to take us down... At the end, we were never using special ammo, survivor link or tactical link, and still survived 95% our manhunt. It was fun indeed, but slowly our power become to great, the fun fade at same time we increased our team power... then they quit, because there was no fun splitting players with a single SMG burst, shreding a matchmaked team with a single SMR bullet...
Last case, 1.3 came, I looked for other pvp oriented mates, and all i found , sorry for offense, is loads of stupid team, claiming they were PVP player... No they were not...
Past 6 years I was involved in a tactical realism team, here you learn what is PVP, fight an opponent the fair way, don't use ******ed mechanics to gain a serious advantage, don't grief solo players when you're in a full squad, If you're in difficulty, fight to death and don't run away like a sisi leaving half your team doomed behind you...
It was not even close to that. All thoses self claimed "pro at pvp" were just grief squad, same as all youtuber / streamer self claimed PVP boyz.
There is no PVP, there are OP squad, running the most efficient team build regarding talents (triage, combat medic, ...) in fact broken talents, as your on a constant over heal even under 5 player cross fire... Using most OP build, sentry, deadeye, tanktician,...
And over than anything, that gameplay ! ! ! Grief a solo player, don't give him any chance. Then melt any player you meet, if you see a guy running far away, hunt him until you got him dead. then teabag him, because OFC you're a pvp god. Act like a 13 YO kid, even if you got 30 yo. And if at any time, things turn wrong for you, run, use the most ******ed trics to save your ***, run again, stay in the middle of DZ 06 extract rope, camp this DZ 02 ladder with 3 shock turret and a smartcover...
Freaking... Boring ... AS ... ****. this is not PVP. A lot of death squad ganker were doing that befor 1.3 but it was possible sometime to go on a server, rassembling real PVP player and do the biggest mess ever where all were pvping in a designated area. thoses player were true PVP guys.
Now this is about OP squad, ruining PVE player experience or harassing again and again the same guy until he quit...
Don't be surprise nobody want to play in DZ. Even as a PVP player I don't want anymore. I don't enjoy ruinning other people experience, I don't enjoy harassing the same poor guy again and again, mostly if I see him looting purple drops.
Actual stat of DZ is group of OP geared team, griefing and PVP forcing PVE groups, using the most ******ed efficient build to achieve a TTK under 1 mili second. Then thoses same people complain on theire stream PVP is dead, nobody want to fight...
People that love PVP don't want to fight with low griefers, they don't want to start a fair fight and see the opponent abusing a broken mechanics (mid rope DZ 06) that's why there is no real PVP team anymore. What remains is people enjoying the power they have ruinning other player experience, thay have nothing to loose, and feel happy when they kill a single guy 1v4 using firebullets, 3 shock turrets, 2 survivor link in a row...
I experience that every day, because unfortunately for them I also have nothing to loose, but trust me when I die, each figth end with "noob", "you suck" or any stupid taunt like that because i wasn't able to handle the ****storm they trown at me (explosive ammo + turret + ultis +...). And no need to provok them, it's free, if by any chance you die in front of 3 guys because you're alone, you'll be taunt....
Tell me where you see PVP in this? Tell me, as a PVP player ho to enjoy thoses *****s? tell me, as it represent 99% of, "pvp players" if, as a pvp player I have any chance to find a team that know the difference between being a true PVP team and being a gang of 12 yo ******ed kid...
Assuming all of that, don't expect seeing PVP becoming better soon. You'll have in first place to give PVP some love, and not the actual griefers vs forced victims...
Hamish...
I watched your last (game) stream before you and Massive went on hiatus, so I don't know if you are still reading and forwarding the "data" to the developers, but on the off-chance you are...
Massive needs to raise player level to above 30, ASAP.
You need to do this because in a misguided attempt to keep the hardcore players from quitting the game... You activated level 35 NPCs which is making the game too hard for casual and solo players in all PVE activities. This is because for every level above a player's level, the NPCs ignore the armor mitigation by a %, so it is like level 30 players have no armor against level 35 NPCs.
You and Massive know this, but this needs to happen ASAP because more and more players are quitting by the day, and there may not be many left in September, when "Survival" is released...
No, On paper it seems perfect, more damage taken = need to stay in cover... but too much other factor pertmit to don't take in coinsideration damage taken for a 4 men squad:Originally Posted by SKORPIQN Go to original post
-Capacity to get constant over heal with powerfull heal (actually any build could raise a 30-33k skill power ammount.
-Triage: no limitation to that perk. a 4 man squad with 4 people using triage, mean no cooldown or almost none
On the other side, getting a bit more damage benefit a bit solo players, can be decent for 4 men matchmaked squads... but turn totally OP for a premade squad. where focus fire is more effectrive, where communication for heal and target is obviously better.
Thoses 20% just increased the gap between solo/matchmake vs premade.
Befor the patch, a well built premade team had no issue with tanks, i was quite long, but still manageable. Now with a 4 men premade squad, you just spliting opponent like butter with a chainsaw... and with increadible heal efficiency + triage, you never fall under 90 - 110% of your HP pool if you healing coordination is good...
TBH, nothing has changed regarding balance, It just reduced TTK, benefit to 4 premade squads and gankers is huge, for other player berely average. People with no perfect gear suffer from it because 20% of a low ammount doesn't shine wherase 20% of already increadible damage just put farther the one shot meta...
And who is able to one shot constantly? 4 premade squads running with perfect skill synergy. other stilll can, but it's more random...
At the end, matchmaked sqquads and solo player are stuck in cover, almost pinned down like an NPC under suppression effect. during that time, OP team can just run and gun them like headless chickens and not taking in consideration any need to take cover.
