Hey everyone, so this is something I've been thinking about for a bit. This morning I saw a tweet from the Rainbow Six page showing off yet another goofy set of DLC headgear...some kind of strange medieval headwear set for the French operators:
...then there are other hideous/nonsensical DLC items like this too:
...as well as obnoxious weapon sprays like these:
I'm sorry, but I hate things like that. Not only do they look pretty darn stupid, but they also make zero sense from a tone/immersion stance. Now, not ALL of the camo schemes are bad and not all of the headgear options are terrible...but these goofy items far outnumber the actual legitimate/tactical options. Even the standard options are silly with floral patterns and obnoxiously bright colors. I really, really, really, really don't want to see anything like this in Wildlands. The obvious counter to this point of view is "don't like it, don't buy it" or "just don't wear it" but it's just so immersion breaking for me when I see others running around with them. PvP hasn't been officially confirmed as far as I know, but if it is in then I really don't want to see things like this when I play the occasional match. I just don't get it...and I hate to say it (it's such a cliche critique used by what I call 'tactical hipsters') but it does feel like pandering to the wannabe-MLG-lol-pwn-some-n00bs crowd.
What do you guys think? Are you in agreement with me that these kinds of things shouldn't really have a place in Wildlands?
If multiplayer there is, that kind of things won't be in the game, why it's simple, GRW is a coop/solo based game and the multiplayer will be classical, that what we asked for if mp should be release with no fancy mods and weird things. Doesn't mean the MP can't be played on ladders and ESL.
Siege is MP based for ladders and copy stuff from CS:GO for weapons skins but added headgear custumisation etc...
For me, it depends on how I want to play. If I'm in a particularly RP type of mood and want total immersion, then I definitely don't use skins and such like that.. .but sometimes I just want to be silly/have fun... and then I bust out the most ridiculous skins I can.
Just depends on my mood at the time. Either way, as a player this sort of thing being an option has never bothered me. If I don't feel like using them, I just don't.
However, that is just me and my own personal opinion as a player.
I don't like them! Unfortunately, however, even a lot of my trusted old time clan buddies like this stuff.
Why not give us the option to see our opponents in normal gear on our own screen, no matter how they choose to see themselves and others on their's? Players can then prance around in this seasons, must-have, gold lame pantaloons with glitter head boppers on their helmets and I can choose to not see it.
No need to suffer posting it and seeing those darn skins again when I am agreeing with you...Originally Posted by DanHibikiFanXM Go to original post

Agree with the OP, I hate seeing the bright flashy crap in tactical games. If I'm playing a custom scenario on an ArmA server and see someone pull out a chromed-pink AS-50 sniper rifle, I disconnect and find a server more relevant to my interests.
If the devs do decide to add something like this, there better be a way to "disable unrealistic BS skins" on my client somewhere.
I think the best solution to this if were talking about multiplayer then it should be like DLC maps, if everyone has the gun/armor skin then it can be used and if not then it will just auto disable skins completely. They could also just do something like cortexian said where when we set up a match/game the host or match creator can disable skins so that no one is allowed to use them in your game or match. I dont hate every skin as there have been a few cool ones but they have never been a priority for me, the only reason i had any in GRP was because i bought the complete weapons/armor pack and if it wasn't dumb i would sport it sometimes. I was never into all the goofy stuff so for me to even have a skin it would have to be cool to begin with, i did like how they did it in vegas 2 though where you could customize your different armor skins to look cool but still military. So as long as i can disable skins for like clan matching and stuff then im cool because i dont want to see that nonsense when im doing a clan match as it can be a distraction seeing some fool in a scuba suit running around.Originally Posted by Cortexian Go to original post
