UPDATE RIGHT NOW......
Prospect Member is £7.99 per month & Road Captain is £14.99!
Was this company always so obvious about the money grab 'deals'? I started playing just before the Frostpocalypse patch, and there used to be some actually good deals for only a few USD. I really hate the way App games have gone. When I got my first iPhone years ago, you paid 99 cents, or 1.99 or whatever, and that was that. This is literally the only game I play that has in-app payments, and it just seems sadder and sadder every few months.
Yes; always very obvious. And shameful, to ask for so much for so little. Was this company always so obvious about the money grab 'deals'? They are just getting started though.... I suspect the "Riders Club" is just the first step as they head towards this:

In IOS apps in general, I forsee some form of FreeToPlay/Subscription merging when one day that you'll be able to PLAY without subscribing... but without the subscription incentives you'll take longer to progress and . . . . those who dont subscribe will get new tracks, etc..... weeks/months later.
Tough days ahead for those who dont pay, I think. Imagine when ALL games are asking you to subscribe (and putting F2P-like barriers in your way if you dont)...... they've just been handed their way to get money from subscribers whether you play or not....steady income for RL even from non-whales if they can find the right price point.
I don't know, it not too bad a deal if the information they provided is correct.
You only become a member 1 month at a time (supposedly) and would have to renew (repay) every month to continue to be a member (supposedly).
That said, the puppy rewards and implementation of the "streak" were not as described and the recent "hot deal" only came with 1 paint job instead of 5 as advertised so...
Supposedly is the word of the day.
Since I didnt pay $9 once for a badge/outfit/cash/coins set in the last 2 years.... well everyone decides for themselves whether this is highway robbery or not. RL has always asked for whatever they think the market will bear.I don't know, it not too bad a deal if the information they provided is correct.

As for the "one month at a time"... thats only because IOS hasnt provided them with the recurring subscription model for games yet (its in next version of IOS). Once the key things are in place and they have the big spenders signed up (start with high offers)... thats when they can come back with a new $1-2/monthly subscription for those on the fence, and then start to modify the game to give less to non-payers. For $1/2 dollars a month you'll get some extra coins/gems.. and you will keep the same number of free showdowns while non-payers lose one... get access to new track packs that non-payers cant get for a couple months. Stuff like that....
If Frontier doesnt do it... someone will. And like F2P, if its shown to be successful, they will all follow. A year from now... you might not recognize this game.
Yeah, I'm not a big spender on mobile games but I will admit I've spent a few bucks in TF. They get me with the 2.99 package deals, a paint job or outfit, and a good supply of coins and gems. I waste more money buying coffee than I spend on TF.
To me it's funny. I'm old, I owned pong, an intellivision console, a colecovision console, an Atari 2600, Nintendo entertainment system, sega Genesis, ps1, ps2.... Games cost money back then and we spent it (and many of those games completely sucked compared to TF).
Then came the smart phones and mobile games and suddenly we all said, "99 cents for an app? What a rip off". I'm included in that group. I used to spend up to $60 for a game without thinking twice, somehow mobile games and free apps made me cheap.
