Hi I saw this chip at a local shop and it has 1mb of L2 cache, Wouldn't this doubling of cache really help with Gaming and Hosting or am I looking at something wrong here ? - Thanks - JK-1

Yes, but not a huge leap mind you. Cache is just the memory on die that CPU uses to store instructions awaiting execution the next cycle. Otherwise they have to sit across a bridge called the front side bus in system memory.

That's a prescott Jim. Yes they give me even at default speeds 5-7 fps higher in FB and the benfits can be seen in the EE and AMD FX series. If you want one let me know I have a used one laying around I would part with....only clocks to 3.9 though

    I have that chip, A prescott 3gig 800mhz 1mb cache.

Just one thing, these Prescott chips run much hotter than normal Pentiums, I mean a lot hotter, now I doubt its a problem and I have done a lot of web browsing about it as I was a bit shocked when I first installed mine.
Boot temp is at 50 odd deg C and under load 70.
A northwood would run at like 30.
I tried alternate cpu coolers and heatsinks but they made little difference.
I dont have a problem with the temp, as it appears to be normal from the reviews I have read, but it was surprising to say the least.
