Can I use any map editor mod to publish co-op /sp maps online?

I have just tried an outpost map called Lethal force on pc,with doors that can be opened and various weapons with silencers and scopes that i have not seen in the map editor.I downloaded the map and noticed that som characters were red with the text invalid.Read somewhere that modded maps could not be published online because of the risk of getting banned, apparently they can be publishedIs there a certain mod that can be used to publish co-op maps online or are all allowed?Any tips on what mod to use for publishing online?

There are three publicly-available mods for the editor (that I'm aware of) Remo: Look for Janne252 at the top of this forum: LFino has "The Golden Squad", and "Predaaator" also has his Editor mod, too - also posted here at the top end of this forum.

You can also make you own mod by learning how to do it with help from the guys here:-

Lethal Force was made with a private mod.

    Map editor mod

I found that modified editor would sometimes crash on start. The graphics would bleed and/or the editor would just crash when I'd look north. No clue whether it's due to the editor itself or the mod.

However, deleting the "%USERPROFILE% \Documents\My Games\Far Cry 4\EditorProfile.xml" (Mind you, not the Gamer one) would fix the problem. Just throwing it out there.

    A couple of points, Ambrixed:

1). The most common reason for the editor to crash on start is because the graphics setting in the ed is set to "VERY HIGH" or "ULTRA". It rarely happens on "HIGH". Which Mod were you using when it crashed? The fact that deleting the Profile cured the issue tells me that there's something else going on, otherwise everyone using that mod - even the creator - would experience that same issue.

2). AKAFootloose's "Lethal Force" map does not require an editor mod to be downloaded. The map itself was created with an editor which contained additional "permitted" objects from the main Far Cry 4 game, which Ubisoft chose not to include in the normal editor - that's all - but it is a small but very important distinction. His maps all work correctly when using the default FC4 editor.

The three public mods noted above all contain complete replacement patch_hd.dat/fat files - and other files too - that need to be installed in the main Far Cry 4 game folder, each one suggesting you back up the original files of course.
These modified editors will allow you to create very different maps, with game modifiers that permit many more game objects, functions and effects - Fino's mod might even be close to being regarded as a DLC - it's that complex. The downside of playing a map created with those mods is that the map will usually also require the end user to download the mod as well.

However! That all being said - do not be afraid to download and install any of those mentioned above: a modified editor can bring new life to an aging game, with many, many more hours of shared enjoyment to be had. Each one has a detailed "ReadMe", and at least two of those three creators are available via their own websites or here on the Ubi site. The thing to remember is that you backup any original file that is being replaced by a modified file - my preference is also to have a backup of the whole FC4 game file system as well "just in case". One can then cherry-pick the needed original files in an emergency. If you do have to put back a few original files - do a "Verify" on the game files before you play, just to be sure it's still ok.

    All the Best,

    pj

Coincidentally, I've been running Fino now, and I hardly had any crashes. Turns out I got the ed set to HIGH. The ed sometimes crashes during mapping, but that's probably because of the awesome maps I'm making as a noob. :P

And yea, I know editor mods don't always have to be loaded for some maps. My only question there would be figuring out which modded editor content is "permitted" to use for publishing maps.

Ans also, are the maps created with editor mods interchangeable, i.e. do 'modded' maps all have the same references for identical objects? Meaning if I put 'unlocked' object A in a map using Fino, then switch to another editor mod also sporting that object A, will that mean I can continue mapping without issues?

No - unfortunately. For example - there are several helicopters, but if Pred uses one particular Blackhawk, and you now run that same map, but using Janne's mod, or Fino's mod - you are most likely going to see that red "invalid object" figure. If you use the regular editor, you won't see them either.

The problem is - many, many of the original game parts are "un-available" in the regular editor, but the more experienced modders can really dig deep, and to modify many things to make his mod work: Those three guys are technically very good, and they use them in their mods - but they also publicly publish their mods so you can see everything in the mod, just as they do, and you can make similar maps and share them with your friends - but it's providing you and they have the same mod - even to the same version..
