As the title states, I would like to continue playing this game. Unfortunately I am at a point where I log in and consider my options for things available to do and find that I just have no motivation to do them. This means that I will probably just start looking for a new game to play. This is particularly disappointing to me as I am by no means a high level player in this game. I don't know that level is the right term to even use as level or gear score really do not mean that much in this game. Maybe I should just say there is a lot of improvement left for the gear my character has and there are still gear sets that I could build for my character. I know that some will read this and say that they are getting ready to add new content and gear sets. I play on PS4 and won't see the new content for a while and am still undecided as to whether I will even purchase the dlc. I am still undecided because it does not seem like the core problems that I am having with this game are being addressed. I would like to break down the core issues I have with the game and see if you agree. Maybe if the Devs see enough people agree, then changes might be made.
The Dark Zone: I don't want to get into the whole rogue thing much because it has been done to death. I don't think there should ever be negative progression in a game and as long as the current rogue system stays in place I won't care for it much. Having said that, the rogue system does not ruin the Dark Zone for me. For about a week after the 1.2 patch I was getting a lot of 240 gear drops and was enjoying the experience in the Dark Zone. Most of the gear did not help me but there were enough drops that I would get one or two pieces that I could re calibrate and improve my gear slightly. This was progress and I was enjoying the experience. After about a week that all changed. I continue to hear that there have been no nerfs to gear drops in the Dark Zone. Evidently then rng went to **** for me at this point as the 240 gear drops hardly drop for me now and the ones I do get have crappy rolls and re calibration can't help them. I no longer have any type of progression or sense of accomplishment. Which means I am just running around in circles doing the same things over and over again without any sense that I will accomplish anything. This becomes boring and stale quickly.
Incursions:While they did lack some creativity, I was still enjoying playing them with friends. But again rng raises it's ugly head. I really only play the hard mode versions of the incursions for the most part. Why? Because it has almost impossible to find groups that have good enough gear to complete Challenge Mode. As long as FL CM has been out should it still be that difficult to find a group with gear good enough to complete them? The fact that it is still that difficult should tell you that the rng and progression in this game is broken. Anyone use the DZPD discord? I do. I rarely ever see anyone asking to do Challenge Mode on the incursions. When I post asking for people to do them I rarely get a response. It is mostly people asking for groups for DZ 5-6. With the problems I mentioned above about the DZ why would that still be the most popular thing to do? Because it is still the best way to get high level gear. How sad is that.
Crafting:In the beginning this was something I enjoyed doing. They have now essentially nerfed it into non existence. The player base overwhelmingly showed that they wanted to craft things. But the Devs have dug their feet in on this one and refuse to bring it back. Why? They want to slow down progression.
Daily hard and challenge missions: I did enjoy doing these with friends in the beginning. Now that Phoenix Credits are all but useless, it is hard to find motivation to continue doing them.
I could continue but this is already a big wall of text. Sorry about that. I guess the bottom line for me is rng, the progression in the game, and rendering certain things in the game useless. I don't think these will be cured by the dlc. Which is why I am struggling with justifying the expense of purchasing it. Anyone having the same issues I am? Any ideas of fixing it that might motivate the Devs?
Edit to original post: I have just seen the patch notes for the upcoming patch. I did see some very encouraging changes that are coming with the patch. I don't know if it will be enough to overcome the rng aspect of this game as it stands, but I will definitely hang around to give it a chance. It does appear as if they are trying to address the problems talked about in the forums.
The only thing that motivates a sincere change is likely to be a straight up mutiny -- just everyone stopping play, and walking away. Since people will always complain about a game but still play it (not just the Division), there's no incentive for the developers to break their butts making changes.
On the other hand, there is not going to be that mutiny. And even if there was, it would likely result in moving the devs to other projects, not fixing this one. I want to keep playing the game, so I will do so. Even with the changes they've made, even in its current state. I do enjoy playing. I don't like everything about it, but if it's a think I can enjoy, why not enjoy it?
Your position is a little different -- you're not sure whether to pay money for something. In your place, I'd wait for reviews and see what you think. There's a lot of controversy now, but you might like what you hear after giving people a week or so to play and seeing what they think.
I know this is going to sound sarcastic so sorry in advance.
You listed basically everything in the game except hvts and you don't like any of it. Maybe you should find a new game.
And I find it hard to believe that you can't find good gear. Since the last update I have put together 3 good sets, all with no challenge mode incursions. Not calling you a liar just very hard to believe.
A FEW ROGUES are we playing the same game, ??? all the dz is now is rogues and cheats.. waiting outside the safezone , waiting at extractions, its ALL rogues and they know it .. 4 and 8 man teams chasing down solo and weaker groups, shooting through walls and walking in to walls .. how can anyone progress through this ..Originally Posted by SIRLANCELOT444 Go to original post
I believe I did say that at one time I did enjoy them. I do have good gear sets but there is still much room for improvement. I am talking about being able to advance those gear sets beyond just good so that you can be competitive in Challenge Mode. Why are you not doing challenge mode incursions?Originally Posted by godhelpme89 Go to original post
If three months is not enough time to be competitive in challenge mode, then you are correct, this game is not for me.Originally Posted by SIRLANCELOT444 Go to original post
I matchmake so hard mode can be pretty challenging sometimes.Originally Posted by Strykervxblue Go to original post
There is nothing wrong with challenging. It makes things interesting and more rewarding. My gear is good enough that hard mode does not really challenge me anymore. My point was that I should be able to compete in challenge mode by now. I have had the game since release and have put a decent amount of time into playing. I would be ok if challenge mode was difficult and took time to complete. But it should not be an impossible slaughter everytime I go in at this point. There have been a few times when I have been lucky enough to find a strong enough group to finish Falcon Lost Challenge Mode but those groups are far and few between. I have yet to finish Clear Sky on Challenge Mode. I have a hard time even finding groups through LFG that want to attempt it. Most consider it too much effort for too little reward. This should not be the case after three months of play time.Originally Posted by godhelpme89 Go to original post
