Background:
I just had problems with the 'downloading' popup which was stuck at 9-11% and kept going up and down. I then cleared the cache and force stopped the game. When the popup returned again on restarting the game, it got to 100%, but then crashed immediately after and everytime I tried to restart the same thing happened.

Problem:
I just uninstalled and redownloaded the game and it started fine. However, the game/ubi strangely now ask for my permission to access the photos and media files on my device. This is a separate popup which is 'in game' opposed to in the app details.

Is this new? I've not seen it before, but I've also not had to reinstall the game for quite a long time. I'M NOT GOING TO GIVE YOU THESE PERMISSIONS. Why do you need them? I can't play the game without accepting these terms. This is pretty unreasonable to force this on the user.

My ubi profile pic is saved on the website so the permissions are not for the gamer pic. What other reason do you need to access my private photos and videos? I can't think of one.

Could this be Google Play asking for these permissions and not Ubi/Trials?

Yep definitely. If you click on the photo button when you finish a track, it will says TF doesn't have permission to access your camera roll unless you allow it.

here you go, thats the answer, marshmallow introduced the option of controling app permissions, but as you said sometimes without permitting you cant use the app
