Hi!
I'm here to voice my concerns for the info we currently have on the 1.3 patch.
Weapons.
Crit is and will be king old smgs and new smgs alike will still be used because of the crit chance. The low optimal range doesn't matter cause we need to be up in peoples faces to hit things reliably.
Aug/Vector nerf.
10% damage nerf is not too bad for PvP initially because almost every player is getting affected by it. However everyone lucky enough to have a god rolled mp5/7 is going to laugh all the way to the bank. Personally I have a 204 Aug with brutal/deadly 211k dps and a SMG-9 brutal/deadly 227k dps. (I use the Aug). The biggest problem here lies withing launching Heroic mode and possibly lvl35 NPCs we are losing out on DPS especially in combination with the striker/sentry nerf.
Striker/Sentry nerf.
This is the big gutpunch of the patch. Alot of players put down alot of time gearing up for this and it gets put in the trashbin. The problems with this nerf can be divided into 2 separate sections, PvP and PvE / weapon synergy.
1. PvP - There are only 2 builds that are viable both in a few combinations. DPS or Tanktician. Tanktician is currently the better option for the majority because it introduces less risk and requires less skill(because noobtubeLOLFTW).
Tanktician is currently a variation of: 4 PM 2 FM; 4 Sentry 2 FM; 4 Tactician 2 FM. Stats variate but in general ~130/500/40 50+ EDR. These guys are extremely hard to take down even with multiple DPS builds in a squad. They rollarollaround ninjadipduckdive and run endless overheals and stickybomb chains.
DPS(or some call it balanced) a variation of 3-2-1 Striker; Sentry; Reckless/Vigorous/Savage or 4/2 Stiker; Sentry. You can tear NPCs a new one and take down players with sub 350k Toughness relatively easy. However a rollatumbling ninja tanktician usually needs to be caught in a shockturret to be killed in anything less than 10 minutes of focused fire. Stat ranges variate but in general around 220/390/20.
The problem here is denying the DPS build the benefit of both striker/sentry makes their DPS drop below 200k DPS which essentially makes tankticians unkillable and only give small benefits in PvE situations. So anything than tanktician is for all intents and purposes dead. All hail our tanktonktian overlords.
Personally I have both setups and vastly prefer trying to kill people with my gun in fast paced gameplay than roll around in triages to wait for my noobt00b to get of cooldown to just spam it into the faces of other people doing the same thing and just giving up clapping and walking away after 20 minutes of noone dying even once.
2. PvE - The nerf to strikers/sentry renders the 3-2-1 Savage build that was the logical build to have regardless of having a SMG/AR/LMG as a main weapon useless. The savage gloves was the main addition to keeping our damage up when we lost the CHC on SMGs and it essentialy impacts all weapons since crit is the biggest damage modifier in the game. So all our dps essentially got nerfed to **** at the same time we get the next step of even harder PvE content. The addition of heroic mode and possibly Lvl 35 NPC will be alot harder and more of a timesink than now. Have fun in falcon lost grinding for 268 gear when your beastliest players are putting out a max of 200k DPS and if he wants to go over he's going to get downed in 1 shot by anything. Kapparoni supreme.
No nerfs only buffs said massive and now they nerf the max ammount of damage we can do by alot. Introduce us to more toughness so we can realisticly still survive PvE content, but for PvP anything else than tanktician will be pure stupidity to run. Lets face it, why would you take the risk to run ~200/400/20 when we can sit comfortably at 140/600/40 and just laugh in the face of everyone and ourself since we are unkillable giant noobt00bslingers in PvP and be just about equally effective in PvE. All hail new meta tanktician or get rekt mate.
Discuss.
When it comes to any RPG or MMO games I always support the No nerf rule just because I believe in the whole if something works don't break it. Adjust everything else to match it but don't mess up the things that are already working.
To keep it simple lets say you have 4 items everyone always uses item A. You want item B,C and D to be used too. Adjust the other 3 until you see people using them problem solved. Instead they usually take the less common sense route. They adjust all 4 and completely mess up the balance because now item A is crap. Then later on they will have to rebalance again because now no one uses item A everyone uses item C instead.
Easiest way to get everyone to use all items is put them up to par to the item that everyone likes to use that way you have something to base all your adjustments too.
I'm kinda pissed about the striker, sentry nerf. I have been rolling and crafting gear since the launch of the game to get my gear set how I like it, now what??? All the time and credits invested into my striker and sentry gear are now going to be rendered useless.
Dont turn into Destiny with all the nerfs, please!!!!!
I think you hit the nail on the head, OP. I've been behind a lot of the changes, and not some of the others, but this one pisses me off. Like another poster said, I've put a lot of time and effort, burned through a lot of materials and credits to get my build to where I can A- take on PVE content at challenging levels, and B- take on PVP against tanktician builds while still being able to manage the NPCs in upper DZ areas. Now, this has pigeonholed everybody into a single build or rendered you ineffective against rogues in the DZ. I've enjoyed the DZ, both fighting rogues and going rogue, but this may actually push me out of that area, and the PVE area has, so far, been lackluster at best.
Hate to say it, but as much as I've enjoyed this game, my clock for it is ticking down.
Bungie's nerfs were the height of subtle, graceful, and well-thought-out adjustments compared to this.Originally Posted by killer5x5 Go to original post
Are you kidding, Bungies first pass at trying to balance the weapons made Auto Rifles completely useless compared to other weapon types in both PvE and PvP for the better part of a year and have only recently been made viable again.Originally Posted by CannyJack Go to original post
lol thats exactly how i felt after 1.2 man.....now this last month getting up to speed crafting and grinding to get a decent sentry set and a well balanced M1A has be a waste of time......i progressed faster when i was level 20 in a week than what i have this last month only for it all to change yet again.....Originally Posted by swirl1297 Go to original post
I'm going to have to agree with you 100% there.Originally Posted by SackOfWine08 Go to original post
Well I think it is OFFICIAL. The people working with this title are monkey's in human skin suits.
The only way to add content into their game is by nerfing everything that gets used by the players. That will make us all have to refarm the exact same guns and armors AGAIN. WTF!!!
This game has gone from, worst launch I have ever played for a game, to well let's make it even worse of a grind, to NOW THE GRIND REALLY BEGINS, to now ahahahaha the grind was for nothing "we be changing the game" AGAIN.
I'm betting the skills still get jammed. You will still fall through the floor (probably more in the underground then ever). Hit registry will still suck. Loading will still take forever. BUT hey guess what you can now go back to FL with a new insane mode and refarm the same gear you been farming for months to get 268 or w/e the new score is on it. Don't forget to get a new gun because the one you are using is also nerf'd just like the gear you have used for over a month.
GL guys hope you have some fun on the 28th even though I have the seasons pass I'm not reinstalling this game. Epic fail game of 2016 on so many levels.
peace...........................
P.S.
I find it quite funny how they try to keep smiling on the SoTG. Maybe once they get their heads out of their asses long enough to realize that on Steam client alone they have lost over 100k players of their game. That's something to smile about isn't it Massive. I guess it is a bit hectic in the office not knowing if they will still have a job as UBI is being slowly taken over by Vivendi. NOM NOM NOM!!!
