And if your running windows 10 make sure you launch both Steam and Uplay as Run As ADMINISTRATOR
this game was shipped well before windows 10 did ...and yes you may need to take that extra step to run the game
this games engine was created years before windows 10 shipped and that change may needed to allow the game to write any save files and or configuration files , windows 10 may handle file security \ permissions in a different way, then previous operating systems did.
also Verify your game files
To verify your files if you bought the game thru Steam ..\EXIT Steam ..right click your steam icon ..select run as Administrator
to launch Steam
then go to your Steam games library
right clik on far cry 4
select properties
select local files
select verify Integrity of game cache
it takes a few min to do but its faster the redownloading your entire game , if its only a few files that were corrupt or installed incorrectly .... this in many cases will fix your problems
If you have the U play only Version of the game you can also verify your game files with U play
if you have the game via u play only here are instructions how to verify your game files thru their client
Again its probably best to make sure you launch Uplay as RUN as Administrator when you do a file verify

the shadow play bug with the Nvidia drivers started in Jan 2016
if you have an Nvidia GPU and installed Nvidia Geforce Experience with your drivers ...........disable Shadow play has worked for some
Nvidia admitted the shadow play bug was a problem in the driver set in both 361,75 as well as 361,91
and said it would not be fixed until the next Major driver branch
see these posts on the Nvidia forums

also there were Problems with AMD vid cards and the AMD 15.11 beta drivers .. use other drives if you have those installed (they will not work with FarCry 3 or FarCry 4 on many AMD GPU's
info on the problem with the AMD beta 15.11 driver that caused the game to crash on launch
see this thread
http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...crashes-FC3-4?
to fix it roll back to the 15.10 beta driver or use the 15.7 or 15.12 WHQL drivers
you can get both from this link
http://www.guru3d.com/files-categori...sta-win-7.html
make sure you use DDU when uninstalling your current drivers in safe mode for best results

*update AMD has released newer drivers but they still may have issues
[82387] A few game titles may fail to launch or crash if the Gaming Evolved overlay is enabled. A temporary workaround is to disable the AMD Gaming Evolved "In Game Overlay"
not all AMD GPU's are supported by the newer Crimson drivers see http://betanews.com/2015/11/24/amd-kills-gpu/
